Dear St. Mary’s Families, This year’s Dinner & Auction will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Stueckle Sky Center. You are encouraged to invite family, friends, neighbors, coworkers – anyone who would like to enjoy an incredible evening while also supporting our school! Major fundraising efforts such as the Sweetheart Soirée allow St. Mary’s Catholic School to off-set tuition and contain costs, while offering a superior education at one of the lowest parochial school tuition rates in the Treasure Valley. This year’s event proceeds will assist the school to cover the cost of daily operations, fund scholarships and complete a much- needed renovation of the building’s aged restroom facilities. Here’s how YOU can help us achieve our $125,000 goal: • FAMILY INVOLVEMENT IS CRITICAL We need you to be generous with your donation of time, talent and treasure. Each family must: 1. Volunteer a minimum of five (5) hours for the Dinner & Auction (or major fundraising event); OR 2. Make a minimum monetary donation of $125 (5 hours @ $25 each); OR 3. Donate an item/service with a minimum value of $125; OR 4. Combine any of the options above to complete the 5 hour/$125 requirement. • DONATE BY MONDAY, JANUARY 23 To get your creativity flowing, we have provided a list of suggested donations on the back of this letter. Your donation qualifies for the Idaho Education Tax Credit. IDAHO EDUCATION TAX CREDIT A gift of $2000 to St. Mary’s Catholic School may only cost you $220 after Federal and State tax credits!* Donations to St. Mary’s Catholic School also remain eligible for the Idaho Education Tax Credit as a donation to an educational entity. The credit amounts are: • Idaho Individual – Credit up to 50% of a $1000 gift (max tax credit of $500) • Idaho Married Couple – Credit up to 50% of a $2000 gift (max tax credit of $1000) Additionally, donations to St. Mary’s Catholic School remain eligible for inclusion as an itemized deduction on your Federal and State income tax returns. Taxpayers who itemize can elect to deduct charitable cash contributions up to 100% of their 2022 adjusted gross income on itemized 2022 tax returns. This is up from the previous limit of 60%. Depending on your tax bracket and liability, your contribution to St. Mary’s could cost you very little. *Itemized tax credit rates vary according to the tax status of each individual.
