Student Government Associa on Campaign Regula ons All campaign regula ons will be in accordance with the Elec on Commission Bylaws and the Cons tu on of the Arkansas State University Student Government Associa on. The Student Government Associa on shall not endorse any candidate or any other electoral ma er. Failure to comply with these regula ons will result in Class One or Class Two o enses and could ul mately result in a candidate’s removal from the elec on. All formal o enses will be reviewed by the Elec on Commission and appropriate ac on will be determined by this commi ee. Class One O enses Commi ng a class one o ense may result in: 1st o ense: Verbal warning from the Elec on Commissioner 2nd o ense: Wri en warning from the Elec on Commissioner 3rd o ense: Fine of $100 Subsequent o enses: Fine of $150 and considered disquali ca on Class Two O enses Commi ng a class two o ense may result in: 1st o ense: Fine of $50 2nd o ense: Fine of $100 3rd o ense: Fine of $250 and considered disquali ca on To be considered on the Elec on Ballot, all candidates must a end the mandatory candidates mee ng February 28, 2023 at 6:15pm in the Delta Center for Economic Development, Execu ve Board Room. 1. Verbal campaigning can take place at any me. However, organized speaking engagements (classrooms, organiza ons, free speech areas) cannot take place un l o cial campaigning begins. Campaigning will o cially begin March 9, 2023 at 12:01am. (Class One O ense) 2. No videos, campaign-based GroupMe, or social media pos ng from any personal or organized accounts un l o cial campaigning begins March 9, 2023 at 12:01am. These pla orms include, but are not limited to privately acquired websites, Facebook, Twi er, Instagram, Snapchat, GroupMe, etc. (Class Two O ense) 3. Campaign materials cannot be displayed un l o cial campaigning begins March 9, 2023 at 12:01am. (Class Two O ense) 4. Campaign expenses cannot exceed $500 for candidates (T-Shirts not included). All campaign funds shall be documented, including the source of funds. Donated materials and their monetary value shall also be documented, including the source of the dona on. The value of the donated materials must be counted against a candidate’s campaign expenses. (Class Two O ense) 5. No signs, posters, or banners may be used on campus (including Greek housing). 6. Individuals or groups may sponsor poli cal rallies. In all areas, use of voice ampli ca on is prohibited. Use of music is determined by facility guidelines. (Class One O ense) 7. No candidate may disseminate campaign materials or pos ngs containing false or misleading informa on about a candidate, sta member, or Elec on Commission member. No person shall deface or contribute to the defacing of any campaign materials. (Class Two O ense) 8. No paint or spray chalk of any kind will be allowed on any University property whatsoever. (Class Two O ense) 9. The distribu on of food, candy, or beverages is prohibited. (Class Two O ense) 10. No individual gi s or trinkets valued at more than $0.99 can be distributed. (Class Two O ense) 11. All campaigning must take place at least 100 from the Reng Student Union and Library. No campaigning materials will be allowed in the Library at any me. Campaigning and materials will only be allowed in the Reng Student Union while a ending Registered Student Organiza on mee ngs and/or events. (Class One O ense) 12. Chalking will be allowed on sidewalks only. No chalking is to be done on any walls, steps or ver cal surface. No chalking is to be done within 100 of the Reng Student Union or Library. (Class One O ense) 13. No candidate may inten onally damage the character of another candidate, sta member, or Elec on Commission member with false informa on. Furthermore, any allega ons that could be considered libel or slander will be brought to the Elec on Commission for review. (Class Two O ense) 14. Crea ng polling sites is strictly prohibited. (Class Two O ense) 15. Candidates must seek approval through the O ce of University Housing before pos ng campaign materials in the residence halls. Documenta on of approval must be shared with the Elec on Commission prior to pos ng. (Class One O ense) *All nes must be paid by March 16, 2023 by 9:00am. Failure to pay nes will result in removal from elec on.
