Learner- Home Learning What can my child do at home if they need to self-isolate? If your Son/ Daughter is required to stay at home to self-isolate, school will provide home learning to complete at home. It is really important that we try and maintain some routine and education for our learners, as best as we can. We recognise this will not always be easy. The table below outlines how home learning/ homework will be shared and returned. Your child will have their own log in so they can access and upload their work (with the help of a parent where needed). Accessing Class Dojo Class Dojo can be accessed via an app download https://www.classdojo.com/download/ and/ or the website link https://www.classdojo.com/ . Here the learner will need to log in with their log in details. These will be sent home via email and paper copies where required. Plan time for snack/meals, friends (virtual/social media), exercise, sleep routines etc Flexibility - be prepared to change an activity or put it to one side for later. Consider the best use of your indoor/outdoor space. Chunk activities into short time slots with practical/movement breaks in between - use a timer if useful 4
Developing life skills – plan opportunities to develop communication/social, personal needs, snacks/meal times, household chores, money etc. Use a range of real life items to make learning interesting. This may include household and garden/natural objects, kitchen utensils, books, toys, tablet apps. Think about the 5 senses of touch/taste/smell/sound/sight to engage your child in activities. In this event, home learning will be posted by another member of staff. Videos and pre- recorded activities may not be shared. How will the Pastoral Manager support us as a family? Pastoral managers will continue to contact and communicate with Parents/ Carers including ‘checking in’ on learners and families; offering any support or guidance we can. How do I support my child if I am working from home? We understand that Parents/ Carers may also be working flexibly at home. We kindly request you complete any well-being, sensory activities and/or learning opportunities when you are able to and let us know if you require further support. What feedback should we expect from the teacher? Any completed homework/ home learning uploaded onto class dojo or emailed to the Pastoral Manager will be marked and feedback provided. What do I do if my child becomes unwell and/ or develops symptoms of Covid19 and cannot complete home learning/ homework? If at any point your child becomes unwell and/ or develops symptoms of Covid-19 then we request that you contact school with an update and to let us know your child is ill. They will need to get a test https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test. Please contact Pastoral Managers if you require further support. Your child will not be expected to complete home learning/ homework if they are unwell. What do I do if I need to discuss personal circumstances? Please contact your relevant Pastoral Manager. 5
How do I keep my child safe online? o Supervise your child when they are online. o Make sure you log in and out, do not save passwords on the computer. o Only use your Parent and Learner accounts to share information including work and photos. o Only update photographs that are safe to do so e.g learners fully clothed, others not in the picture. o Promote and maintain professional relationships between parents, learners and staff maintain. o Avoid using class dojo to report concerns. Share any concerns with school via Pastoral Managers. o Follow the school respect charter. o Class dojos Students’ portfolios are private to the classroom. o Class dojo use the latest security best practices to protect you at all times. o Class dojo are compliant with COPPA, FERPA, and GDPR in Europe. 6
