1. Objectives • To provide students with: subject combinations that will facilitate their progression to the Institutes of Higher Learning (e.g. fulfilling Junior College pre-requisites for offering certain subjects) a breadth of choices of subjects based on their abilities and interests • Synergy between subjects within the combination • School Resources (e.g. manpower, facilities) St. Margaret’s Secondary School

2b. Subject Combinations: Eligibility Criteria Obtain a Grade D or better in 2 subjects, one of which is English Promotion Criteria or Mathematics. A Pass in the SBB subjects (English, Mathematics, Science SBB (Exp) and/or Mother Tongue) offered in the lower secondary St. Margaret’s Secondary School

7a. Subject Information: Element of Business Skills St. Margaret’s Secondary School
• This syllabus is an introduction to business through an understanding of business activities, focusing on basic marketing and customer relations, in the context of Singapore. • The syllabus intends to provide students with opportunities to develop transferable employability skills and knowledge in the service industry, namely the Travel and Tourism, Hospitality, and Retail industries, which continue to offer employment opportunities accessible to the students.
It provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills for further studies in institutes of higher learning and the awareness of prospects of a career in the service industry. In the Elements of Business Skills (EBS) syllabus framework shown below, the basic concepts of marketing and customer relations are at the core of the EBS syllabus. The middle ring represents the outcomes of the syllabus, namely foundational business knowledge, decision-making skills and an enterprising mindset. The outer ring defines the scope of the syllabus within the Travel and Tourism, Hospitality, and Retail industries.
Students need to: • Apply concepts in marketing and customer relations, including the use of relevant terminology, to different contents in the Travel and Tourism, Hospitality and Retail industries. • Gather, select, interpret, analyse and evaluate information for the investigation of a business • Think critically and innovatively to generate solutions and make decisions to improve marketing and customer relations • Self-manage and direct personal learning to work independently and collaboratively • Communicate effectively • Harness the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) where appropriate

Learner characteristics The Learner has the ability in making and presenting art, with basic skills in observation studies has good time management skills and is able to cope with extended lessons in the afternoons to complete coursework has a keen interest and is willing to commit to two years of in-depth study in Art
Aims of the programme • Foster self-confidence and a sense of achievement • Nurture a spirit of exploration, inventive thinking and creative expression • Cultivate an awareness and appreciation of art to make informed responses to works • Develop a keen interest and build a foundation in art for further educational/professional pursuit

Examination Format Back to Slide 9 Paper 2 (Portfolio) PART A – Digital Journal • Each work must be accompanied with a digital journal of not more than five screens for submission • Sketches, paintings, images and/or short audio-visual recordings must be included PART B – Art and Design Work • Each candidate is to submit two works: One Fine Art submission and one Design submission PART C • Personal Response Evaluation of the candidate’s ability to remain engaged and to take responsibility for the completion of the Portfolio examination (Part A and Part B) Paper 1 (Art Task) 3 hours in Examination venue • One task accompanied with a visual stimulus will be offered five weeks before the commencement of the N(T)-Level examination • Preparatory studies: between three to five A3 sheets of paper to show their ideas/ concepts • The final solution is executed on paper of A3 size during the examination
