Volunteerism at Warner School
                           How to get involved

PTCO: Contact Person: Chanda Boesl, president. 226 - 9955 Parent/teacher/
community organization. This is a support organization that provides funding for school
projects, scholarships for higher education, work on special events, and any other func-
tions as generated at meetings.

YMCA Coaching: Contact person: Dan Grewe at YMCA. 225 – 4910 Warner Elemen-
tary students participate in football, basketball, and volleyball through the YMCA. Get in
touch with Dan or other parents in the class to see how you can be a part of things.

Room Helper: Contact person: Each classroom teacher 225-6194. Talk to them directly
and let them know what your special talents are. ART is an area where we could always
use an extra pair of hands. Organizing the Christmas Parties is another big event dur-
ing the year. Making displays would always be appreciated. Reading to students is
huge, especially in the younger classes. Presenting on a special topic is a wonderful
way to volunteer. We never put a parent in the position of being a disciplinarian or an
evaluator of other student’s work. Helping with special projects like Math-O-Lanterns,
story writing, plays, music concerts, or field trips is a huge help as well as piano accompa-
nists for music contests.

Event Helper/Coordinator: Contact person: Mr. Kay 225-6194. On big event days like
field day, or a Munchkin Run, helpers are always need to make the event happen. Let Mr.
Kay know if you are willing to help. Occasionally we need a playground project such as
painting or construction of equipment, and that is always appreciated as well. Often peo-
ple volunteer to coordinate an event such as Jump Rope for Heart or a Kid Run.
Sports: Contact Person: Mr. Welke 225-6194. There is always room for people to get
involved in this area. Line judges, volunteers for junior high tournaments, officials, an-
nouncers, or volunteer assistant coaches are ways people have volunteered in the past.

Library Committee: Contact people: Lori Goldade, Ginny Sannes, or Jody Erickson.
225-6194 This club has been extremely beneficial in securing funding/resources for fur-
nishing the library with everything from shelving to books. This is an area that is terri-
bly important to the school.

Committees and Planning: Contact people: Kirk Easton, Chuck Welke, Cathy Jones,
Lori Goldade, and Donneley Kay. 225-6194. We have an ongoing need for planning
committees for developing in-service, needs assessing, compliance reviews, and other
necessary components of the No Child Left Behind Act. In addition to that some people
may have a high interest in becoming a Board of Education member, which is actually
an elected position.

Warner School Foundation/Financial: Contact person: Kirk Easton 225-6397 or
Mike Bertsch, president 229-3619. This relatively new committee has the goal of sup-
porting Warner School financially and also provides scholarships. If this is an interest/
talent area of yours, you may wish to pursue this activity.

PSCN (Parent Student Communication Network): Contact Person: Jeff Gun 225-
6194. This is an organization made up primarily of junior and senior parents who se-
cure funding/supplies for post prom and post graduation activities for HS students.

AAU Wrestling for Elementary /MS Boys: Contact Person: Jeff Larson 262-0066.
This is a parent group who have arranged for AAU wrestling with the students who are
not old enough to participate in school wrestling.
