COVID-19 Procedures In our efforts to protect the safety and health of students and staff, school officials will send home or deny entry of any student, staff, or visitor why any symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Individuals who have been clinically evaluated and received a positive result will be contacted by the health department for guidance and contact tracing will be done. If the results are negative, the individual must stay home at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared and at least 24 hours with no fever without fever- reducing medications and symptoms have improved. Siblings and other household member must quarantine for 14 days. Individuals who have been clinically evaluated but do not lab results are encouraged to get tested. Visitors and Deliveries Currently, we are not having any visitors on campus. If you need to pick up your student early from school, you will still follow the check out policy as stated in our Parent Handbook located on our school website. Please do not contact your student or the school to have your child waiting in the front office for check out. We must maximize our instructional time at all times. THERE ARE NO OUTSIDE FOOD DELIVERIES- In accordance with the guidelines about visitors, please understand we cannot accept food deliveries for any student. A student lunch box may be dropped off if forgotten, but we will not allow delivery drivers or outside food vendor deliveries to be made.
Student Checkout Procedures • Make sure your child knows that they are being picked up. • Check their schedule – PE/Lunch/Testing are very difficult times for students to leave • All persons checking out students must report to the main office. • Anyone checking out a student must be listed on the EMERGENCY CONTACT FORM. • Valid Picture ID Is Required for all student check-outs.
DROP OFF AND PICK UP Student drop off begins at 9:00am unless you are enrolled in extended day. 9:00 am -9:10 am holding area in Auditorium 9:10 am -9:30 am in classroom, where breakfast will be available. Afternoon pickup is between 4:15pm and 4:45 pm No supervision is available prior to 9:00am or after 4:45pm Students staying after school for activities, athletics or tutoring must be under direct supervision of a teacher.
Parent Teacher Conferences Regular communication with your student's teachers and school is extremely important. Please allow teachers 24-48 hours to return your phone call or email (or until the next business day if over a weekend or holiday). Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s) may access their student's grades and the teachers' websites through the district's online student information system (FOCUS). Emailing your student's teacher(s) after accessing their grades and websites is a quick and easy way to ensure your student is on track and not falling behind in class. Teachers have contractually (10) days after the due date to post grades. Please allow longer for large projects or research papers that are time consuming to grade. Teacher conferences can be requested by filling out the Parent Teacher Conference form under the Guidance tab on our school website or call (904) 538-0825. Bus Transportation MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT KNOWS HIS OR HER ADDRESS AND THE NEAREST CROSS STREETS. • STUDENTS MUST WEAR A MASK WHILE ON THE BUS. • Riding the school bus is a privilege. • If a student fails to comply to bus rules and regulations, his or her privilege may be revoked. • Disciplinary consequences will occur for any Code of Conduct violation occurring on a bus or at a designated bus stop. • Activities buses have different stops than the regular bus routes. They depart from the school usually by 6:15 pm - 6:30 pm. • Questions/Concerns about Bus Stops: Call 381-RIDE for route information
Dress Code Mishaps If your child comes to school out of dress code, he or she will: Be asked to cover up with clothing that they have in their gym locker. Put on clothes we have provided here. Remove articles such as: inappropriate jewelry, bandanas, or hats. If we are calling you, it means your student has declined the three options above.
Examples of what not to buy for back to school: Shorts and skirts must be the appropriate length! The measurement for appropriate length is your ID. Outer layer of clothing must meet length requirement No leggings/jeggings by themselves
Is it too short? Themeasurement for appropriate length is your ID. ID is placed above the knee, length should not go above the top of the ID.
TLAM PTSA Who are we? We are an active group of parents, staff, students and families with a common goal of working to provide support and enrichment to Twin Lakes Academy Middle school. We meet monthly with the TLAM SAC and administration to work effectively and collaboratively. Last school year we had 100% staff membership!! What we do? We sponsor many events at TLAM including: Back to school breakfast School dances Teacher appreciation week Spring dunk and jam Provide volunteers for vision and hearing screenings Provide volunteers and incentives for school store Provide resources for 8th grade field trip and formal dance. PSAT The PSAT- Practice SAT is coming! Grade levels: All 7th and 8th who completed the survey Date: Wednesday October 14th Time: During the School Day Duval homeroom students will be able to come in person and test on Thursday October 29th. For students who will be returning from Duval HomeRoom for the second quarter, the PSAT will be administered on Thursday, October 29th.
