Attendance • Good attendance and punctuality is very important. • There is a link between attendance and good results - if a student has 90% attendance in an academic year, that means that they are away from school for half a day every week. • We monitor attendance very closely and strive to work with families to offer support if needed. “Working together, achieving together”
Absence reporting procedure • If your child is unable to attend school then parents/carers are expected to call the appropriate absence line or the absence reporting link on the Edulink App, before 8.30am. • This includes illness, medical appointments, college interviews, bereavements and funerals etc. • Parents/carers are required to inform the school every day of the absence. • Medical or similar appointments for a child should, wherever possible, be made outside of school hours. If this is not possible, written notification must be sent to the attendance team. “Working together, achieving together”
Mobile phones • No mobile phones to be seen or heard during school (including break and lunch). • Phones will be confiscated until the end of the day. • If a student has their phone confiscated three times within a half term then parents/carers are requested to come and collect it. “Working together, achieving together”
Behaviour • We have high expectations for the behaviour of our students and work with families to ensure that we are able to bring out the best in our students. • We believe in the importance of students behaving in a considerate and respectful way towards each other. • Most of our students get it right most of the time, for those who make a poor decision, there are consequences. “Working together, achieving together”
Rewards • We believe in encouraging and rewarding effort and achievement. Our goal as a school is to work to bring out the best in every student. • Students receive House points from staff for school learning, home learning, resilience, demonstrating that they are ready, respectful and safe, and extra- curricular contributions. • Raising Standards Leaders celebrate student success in a number of ways which may include students being nominated for star student of the week, being invited to enjoy a cake at breaktime, receiving their Pledge Passport badges or being invited to attend different rewards trips. • We also have departmental and House postcards which a member of staff sends home. “Working together, achieving together”
