On this Feast, we celebrate Mary our Blessed Mother as WHY PRAY? the Queen of Heaven and Earth. SUNDAY, AUGUST 16, 2020 TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME GOLDEN ROSE, QUEEN OF IRELAND OUR LADY OF KNOCK FEAST DAY – AUGUST 21 On the evening of August 21, 1879, in the pouring rain, 15 men, women and children, mainly from the village of Knock in County Mayo, and ranging in age from 5-74 years old, claimed to see a holy apparition on the south gable of the local Parish Church. In the center appeared a beautiful woman, clothed in white garments, wearing a large brilliant crown. Her hands rested as if in prayer. This woman was understood by all who saw her to be the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus, the Queen of the Angels.
