Changing lives, one shoe at a time May 17th, 2014 Cameron’s Shoes Soleman Triathlon Sponsorship Packet www.CameronsShoes.org
Dear Friends, Thank you for considering contributing to our charity. Cameron's Shoes was founded by my wife Patricia and myself three years ago. After working several years as part of a medical mission in Cali, Colombia, my wife and I got the idea to bring our daughters’ used shoes to the kids in Colombia. The shoes had little wear and may otherwise, have gone to waste. We soon had a garage full of our neighbors’ kids' shoes. Since that time we have filled a large storage unit with both new and used shoes. We are a local public charity, founded here in Baton Rouge. We have made donations nationally and internationally as well as right here in our local community. As the foundation has grown, so have our responsibilities. In the near future we will be asked to help support the orthopedic medical mission that takes place in Colombia every year. To help support our foundation, we have had several fundraisers over the last two years. On May 11th of this year we will host our first annual Cameron's Shoes Soleman Triathlon here in the Baton Rouge area. If you are interested in learning more about Cameron’s Shoes please go to our Facebook page or feel free to call or email any time. My contact information is below, and I would be happy to provide any additional information you may need. Thank you again for your time and God bless. Thank you, Stevie Guillory Founder stevie@cameronsshoes.org www.CameronsShoes.org
What is Cameron’s Shoes all about? Our Mission: Cameron’s Shoes was started to collect new and used shoes for the poor and underprivileged children in Colombia, South America. I got the idea one day while staring at shoes that no longer fit my daughters and would be thrown away or given to Goodwill and sold. These shoes were in perfect condition. I thought about the many kids I’ve seen while doing mission work in Cali, Colombia over the last eight years. This is a medical mission that I have had the privilege to participate in with my boss and friend, Dr. Jorge Isaza, who grew up in Cali. Working with the people of Cali has had a profound impact in my life. When we first started going, I was oblivious to some of the poverty that I was seeing in the clinics. Slowly, as I have spent more time, and got to know people better, my eyes have been opened. About half of the kids we would see would be dressed in good clothes and shoes. Others were not and soon I realized the kids in the nice shoes were wearing their only pair! We have to help. We can help. We are truly blessed in our country and together we can help others that are less fortunate. I am taking no money nor receiving any gain from this. My goal is to take as many shoes to Cali as possible. Please help if you can. www.CameronsShoes.org
