Assam Government Financial Assistance News: ❖ Assam Govt to provide financial help to 8,000 Sericulture farmers. ❖ In Assam, Handloom and Textile department has taken steps to provide financial help to 8 thousand Sericulture farmers during lock down period. ❖ Handloom and Textile minister Ranjit Dutta said that 5000 rupees will be given as one time gratia payments through direct bank transfer. Assam Budget 2020-21: ❖ Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced 18 flagship programmes in the state budget for FY 2020-21 presented in Assam Legislative Assembly. Redesigned ‘Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Yojana’. Arundhati: ❖ Rs. 40,000 in lieu of 1 tola gold to newlywed brides with an annual family income of less than Rs. 5 Lakh. ❖ Mandatory Registration of Marriage under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. Comprehensive Social Security Scheme: ❖ One-time grant of Rs. 25,000 as family assistance to widows and ‘Widow Pension’ of Rs. 250 per month. ❖ Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Asoni: Rs. 250 per month to citizens above 60 years of age, 13 Lakh senior citizens covered so far. Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi News: ❖ Telangana Farmers received Rs 2000 towards one installment of Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi. ❖ Many farmers have received 2000 rupees towards one installment of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi: ❖ To provide an assured income support to the small and marginal farmers, the Government has unveiled the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM- KISAN). About Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi: ❖ PM-KISAN scheme was first implemented as the Rythu Bandhu scheme by the Government of Telangana where a certain amount was handed directly to the eligible farmers. Later, on 1 February 2019, during the 2019 Interim Union Budget of India, Piyush Goyal announced the implementation of this scheme as a nationwide project. ❖ Narendra Modi launched the PM-KISAN scheme on 24 February 2019 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. ❖ Under this programme, vulnerable landholding farmer families, having cultivable land upto 2 hectares, will be provided direct income support at the rate of Rs. 6,000 per year. ❖ This income support will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary farmers, in three equal installments of Rs. 2,000 each. ❖ The complete expenditure of Rs 75000 crore for the scheme will borne by the Union Government in 2019-20. SHANMUGAM IAS ACADEMY ❖ KG to PG Scheme (planned):Yogi govt. has planned to provide free & compulsory education to all students between Kindergarten (KG) to Post Graduate (PG) level in all government institutions. ❖ UP Draft for Fees Regulation Act, 2017: This is a bold step of Yogi sarkar against the arbitrary nature of the private schools, now the private schools does not have the authority to increase the school fees as per their will and schools cannot force students to purchase books and uniforms from specified shops. ❖ UP Free School Bag & Uniform Scheme: All those poor students in govt. run schools whose annual income of the family is less than Rs. 56,460 per annum (for urban) & Rs. 46,080 (for rural) i.e belonging to BPL category will be given free school bags, uniform, and textbooks. ❖ Free Education Scheme upto class 12thAll the students from scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST), other backward classes (OBC) and economically backward classes (EBC) category will be given free education till intermediate level (12th standard). ❖ Ahilyabai Kanya Nishulk Shiksha Yojana: Free education till graduation for all girls. ❖ Baba Saheb Ambedkar Scholarship Scheme: Higher education to poor students. SHANMUGAM IAS ACADEMY 4. e-comic Textbooks launched in Manipur News: ❖ Manipur State Education (School) Department has launched electronic format comic textbooks for class III to V for Mathematics, Environmental Studies and English Language in a motive to make up the gaps for the academic situation arises due to lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic. Launched by: ❖ Manipur State Education Minister Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam officially launched the e-comic textbooks at Imphal. Static about Manipur: ❖ Imphal is the capital of Manipur. It literally means “The Jeweled Land”. ❖ Handloom industry is the largest cottage industry in the State. One of the special features of the industry is that women are the only weavers. ❖ India’s first floating elementary school named Loktak Elementary Floating School was inaugurated at Langolsabi Leikai of Champu Khangpok floating village on Loktak Lake in Manipur on February 2017. ❖ The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has constituted a four-member team for conservation and management of Loktak Lake in Manipur. Famous places in Manipur: ❖ Govindajee Temple: This is a Vaishnavite temple built by the former kings of Manipur. The simple but beautiful structure consists of two domes and a large congregation hall. ❖ War Cemetery: The Commonwealth War Graves Commission maintains the graveyard. The fear of reforms by Abraham Lincoln and the Republican party: ❖ The immediate cause of the civil war was the American Presidential election in which the Republican Party candidate, Abraham Lincoln, won (1860). ❖ While Abraham Lincoln stood for freedom of slaves, the Democratic candidate Stephan Arnold Douglas wanted slavery to continue. Movement for the abolition of slavery: ❖ A strong movement for the abolition of slavery began in the north. It called for the repeal of the controversial Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 (this act had mandated the return of runaway slaves to their masters). Abraham Lincoln most known for? ❖ Lincoln is most famous for leading the country during the American Civil War. His leadership in the North helped the country to remain strong and defeat the South keeping the country united. He also pushed for the freedom of all slaves throughout the nation. Died: ❖President Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth while attending a play at the Ford Theatre in Washington D.C. He died the next day on April 15, 1865.
