JGS School Council COUNTING OUR MANY BLESSINGS
We are counting our blessings this holiday season at JGS! In the midst of

such a difficult year, we have so many things to be thankful for at our

ANNUAL FUND
There is still time to make an end-of-year, tax-deductible donation to the 2020-21 JGS Annual Fund
Campaign. Each end-of-year gift given will go to help meet our operational budget, school needs and to offset
unexpected expenses including:
Technology purchases: Teacher classroom laptops with cameras and software for virtual learning, additional
Chromebooks and increased broadband internet.
Covid supplies: personal protective equipment, thermometers, (2) sprayers for sanitizing classrooms and
outdoor play equipment, additional hand sanitizer and soap dispensers, sanitizing solutions for sprayers and
cleaning of classrooms.

Annual St. Vincent de Paul Thanksgiving Baskets
The St. Vincent de Paul Society and JGS School brought this beloved tradition back to our school gym
this year and what a wonderful time our students had sorting through all of the donated items sent by our
JGS families and organizing each basket for those less fortunate in our area. Thank you Ms. JoAnn
Crone, Mrs. Karen Trahan, Fr. Mike, Mr. Billy, the JGS 6th grade class and all the others who helped to
make this project come together!
Rising Runners Virtual Turkey Trot
Jesus the Good Shepherd School students in grades 1-6 participated in our now annual Virtual Turkey Trot race.
Students dedicated their 1 mile run to what they were most thankful for in their lives and then celebrated their
accomplishment with popsicles! A big THANK YOU to Mrs. Hart for organizing this event through Rising Runners
for our students!

Covid-19: Modified Phase 2 Proclamation
The modified phase 2 proclamation made by Governor Edwards during the Thanksgiving break will have no
effect on our policies and procedures at JGS School. We have maintained static classrooms and crowd
restrictions and are in compliance with all Phase 2 mandates. Please continue to notify the school of any
close-contact exposures or positive Covid-19 tests in the immediate family. Thank you all for your continued
cooperation in helping to keep our students and faculty safe and healthy.

Jesus the Good Shepherd Church Christmas Mass Schedule
JGS Church is taking reservations
MASSES for Christmas Masses. Reservations
December 24 are required for each Mass as well
4 P.M. & 7 P.M. (JGS Church) as masks and social distancing.

ADVENT AT JGS looks a bit different this year, but we are still celebrating with
an Advent wreath in each classroom, which is lit each Monday morning of
Advent over morning assembly via Google Classroom. The students are also
praying an Advent prayer each morning during morning assembly as well. We
will continue to expectantly wait for Jesus and honor him.

Advent is a time of quiet, joyful preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth and also a time to remember that we
wait for Christ to come again at the end of time. It is a season to enjoy the hope that Christ’s birth gives us. We will have
an Advent wreath in each classroom during the month of December. We will pray an Advent prayer each Monday in
December during our morning assembly on Google Classroom.
Everyone should refer to our school handbook in reference to attendance. Students who are absent more than 7.5 days
per semester or more than 15 days per year are subject to failure unless it is due to an extended illness. A physician’s
verification statement is required upon the return to school in order to be considered an excused absence.
Please remember our parish priest, Fr. Mike and Fr. Jerry, this Christmas Season. This is an important time for giving and a
busy time for the church. We remember our clergy in a special way each year by providing Fr. Mike and Fr. Jerry with a
monetary Christmas gift from our school family. Please send your Christmas donations for our priest to the school office
thru December 15th.
