1. Duration The 5-day course spans over 5 days and 4nights. More 2. Intensity about the The 5-day course experience is set in an outdoor 5-day course environment with activities conducted in all in OBS weather conditions, over prolonged durations in the day. 3. Journey-Based Concept It is designed to allow for self-propelled/self- sufficient journey which allow opportunities for students learn to overcome physical and mental challenges, while taking ownership through involvement in responsible planning and decision-making. Important Online Course Registration Ensure certified accurate information is given Information when filling the Online Course Registration Form - The school will be engaging external vendors for fully-subsidized medical screening session in school on 15 October and 22 October 2019. - Tetanus vaccination is not included in the screening. If required, tetanus vaccination is available during the screening session but the cost will be self-borne. *Parents to note: Additional supplementary information (e.g. doctor’s memo) may be required by OBS for assessment if child/ward with pre-existing conditions can be enrolled into the 5-day course.

Pre-Course Medical Examination Your child will need to be certified fit by a medical doctor for the OBS Course. Why is there a need for medical examination? To determine your child’s suitability for the Priority on course based on current and accurate health Safety and status Well-Being To determine how best to provide a suitable level of care, especially for students with pre- existing conditions* To help parents/guardians make an informed decision on their child’s participation in the course based on current health status of child/ward *Note: Please refer to Letter to Parents - Important Note and Frequently Asked Questions for details - Non- Admission and Condition(s) of Concern
Students with the following medical condition(s) are unable to enrol in to the MOE-OBS Challenge Programme. They will not be taking the medical examination in school. Please see Mr Huang from the PE Department at Staff Room 3. 1 Epilepsy / fits / seizures – Any episodes within the last 24 months 2 Unavoidable allergens resulting in severe allergic reaction – e.g. traces of allergen (including but not limited to peanuts, tree nuts, food additives, wheat, Furthermore etc), insect bites, unknown allergens … 3 Thalassemia Major 4 Diabetes condition requiring Insulin injections 5 Mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation 6 PMC from PE lessons / Sports due to medical condition(s) or obesity
Students with the following medical condition(s) will need to provide additional information from their specialist for review prior to confirmation on OBS participation. They will not be taking the medical examination in school. When will I be informed? You will be informed when your child/ward requires further medical attention, e.g. sent out to clinic or hospital, instead of daily updates of your child/ward during the course. How can I Infographic Packing List help my child? Pre-Course Note: Expedition items and equipment such as backpacks, tents, poncho, whistles, Personal Floatation Device (PFD) etc. are provided by OBS. Students are encouraged to borrow from family/ friends/schoolmates instead of buying.
