Program Operation Clarification SFSP has NOT been extended to operate beyond the end of the summer! In other words, the SFSP must end when school in your community begins. Watch for SY2021-22 application instructions on the School Nutrition Bulletin page: https://dpi.wi.gov/school-nutrition/school-nutrition-bulletin-2021-45
Program Operation Clarification CACFP At Risk Program must end when the school year ends in your community. Can begin again when the school year begins. In other words, the CACFP At Risk Program cannot operate during summer vacations.
SFSP Waiver Extensions Area Eligibility – can continue to have SFSP sites within areas that do not typically qualify Meal Service Time Flexibility – can continue serving meals for an extended period, multiple meal types at the same time, and multiple day’s worth of meals Non-congregate Meals – can continue to allow meals to be consumed off-site Parent/Guardian Pick-up – can continue to allow parents/guardians to pick up meals for their children without the child present
SFSP Waiver Extensions Offer Versus Serve – all types of SFSP agencies may utilize OVS Waiver of the 1st Week Visit Requirement – those agencies that operate the NSLP, SFSP, or CACFP only need to do the full review prior to the end of the 4th week of operation Onsite Monitoring Waived – allows agencies to conduct desk audits in lieu of monitoring on site.

To Do: Prior to Operation (i.e., before summer session) Update the SFSP Application • Dates of Operation • Include All Sites • Check Site Types • Check Days Meals are Provided • Check Meal Service Times Notify Local Health Dept of Site Operations • Upload into SFSP Application if haven’t already Provide Sponsor and Site Training • Train all staff on specific duties for summer and document. Ensure Justice for All Posters are Posted • Order or download from the DPI Website Issue the SFSP Media Release • Prototype on DPI Website • Keep documentation of release, when sent and where Conduct Outreach • Order resources from DPI, Contact 2-1-1 • Work to promote with other groups in community
