Project Update – September 2021
Out and about at Diggers & Dealers During the conference, we were pleased to sign a
Water Agreement with the City of Kalgoorlie-
Lynas presented at the Diggers & Dealers Mining

to see so many attendees visit our booth to talk to
the team about our Rare Earths Processing with our best practice sustainability principles.

Modern Manufacturing Initiative in July 2021.
The grant will enable us to commercialise an
industry-first Rare Earth carbonate refining
process that has been developed by our inhouse
research and development team.
The process will be installed during the
construction of the Kalgoorlie Rare Earth
Processing Facility and the grant is expected to
Kam Leung, VP Upstream, presenting at Diggers and Dealers contribute approximately 50 per cent of the
Mining Forum 2021 implementation cost.
The new process has been tested at bench scale
and has proven effective in producing a higher
purity Rare Earth carbonate that can feed the
Lynas Malaysia plant as well as the proposed U.S.
Rare Earth processing facility.
In keeping with our commitment to sustainable and
responsible Rare Earths production, the new
refining process will contribute to reducing
chemical consumption and processing costs. You

Project Update – September 2021
Site Visits
In September we hosted the Western Power
Board in Kalgoorlie. They toured the Kalgoorlie
site and viewed the preliminary site works and our
vision for the REPF.
During the visit Lynas signed on as a partner for
Western Power’s innovative Eastern Goldfields
Load Permissive Scheme (ELPS), which helps
resources companies secure a vital supply of
affordable and reliable energy.
The partnership enables access to network
capacity when it’s available and curtails supply
when it is not, using an autonomous process Wilson Tucker, MLC Visit

centre.
Kiln Update
Excitingly, the kiln is on its way to Western
Australia. This will be a large kiln, 6 metres in
diameter and 110 metres long. The components
will come from Australia and Europe, in five
separate pieces. At site, they will be lifted into
place and welded together. It will be quite a
spectacle to see it come together.

The Kalgoorlie team also hosted Wilson Tucker

him on the Kalgoorlie project. We shared with him Kiln pieces on their way to Australia
