OUR MISSION In partnership with our community, the Salmon School District will academically prepare all students to build upon their individual strengths to be creative, productive, and self-reliant citizens. THE POSITION The Salmon School District Board of Trustees is seeking a highly qualified, strong educational leader to be the next Superintendent of Schools. THE DISTRICT AT-A-GLANCE SALMON, IDAHO • Enrollment - 670 • Staff - 46 certified, 56 classified, 4 administrators • School week - Salmon is a 4 day school week system, 147 school days a year • Budget - $12,808,701 (2021- 2022) • Supplemental Levy - $450,000 (2020-2022) with a renewal vote on March 8th for $500,000 (2022-2024) • Schools o Pioneer Elementary o Salmon Junior and Senior High School o Salmon Alternative High School OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Salmon is a one-to-one school district with Chromebooks and iPads available in each classroom grades K-12. • Classrooms include such technology as interactive projectors and Apple TV units. • One of the top Senior Project programs in the State. • Students at the high school have access to dual credit and advanced placement opportunities. • There is a very popular Agricultural Program and a strong FFA program where the instructor is a national ambassador. • Music is a high priority in Salmon and has received statewide recognition in Band, Chorus. • The Drama Program thrives in the Salmon School District. Musicals are prepared and performed regularly. • Gifted and Talented programs are offered in grades 3-8. • A full Special Education program is available for students with learning disabilities. • Athletics: The high school and junior high students compete in many sports and have proven their suc- cess with multiple year district championships and state tournament placing, including: Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, Golf, Track, and Cheerleading. • Newly constructed 5.5 million dollar athletic facility. • Band Director was the recipient of the 2020 Governor’s Award in the Arts.

THE COMMUNITY Salmon, Idaho is a small rural community of 3,400 people and is the county seat of Lemhi county which is nestled in a mountain valley formed by the Lemhi and Salmon rivers. The town is surrounded by National Forests and the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Outdoor activities are a passion for the people in Lemhi County, particularly whitewater rafting, snowmobiling, skiing, motorsports, hunting, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. Historically, Salmon is a ranching community but in recent years has become a popular location for the retired. Salmon is the birthplace of Sacajawea, the famous guide and interpreter for the Lewis and Clark expedition and there is an exceptional interpretive center in town named after her. Salmon has a modern hospital and has an ever growing airport with service to Boise and other surrounding cities. A new Cobalt mine is in the process of becoming fully operational which will greatly add to the diverse economy of the area.
THE QUALIFICATIONS The Board requires the Superintendent to be a strong educational leader with professional experience including: • Hold a valid Idaho Administrative credential with Superintendent Endorsement, or be eligible for licensure as a superintendent in Idaho. • Work effectively with the Board, employees, residents of the District, and with educators throughout the State. • Demonstrate strong instructional leadership, effective communication skills, as well as budgetary experience and a passion for students. • Show respect, transparency, good judgment, and integrity in relationships with trustees, administrators, teachers, parents, students, and community. • Ready and able to chart the course for the next exciting chapter of our district by taking a creative and innovative approach to education by minimizing budgetary constraints and maximizing educational opportunities. • Be of good character, with high morals and unquestionable integrity, meeting the standards of the community and patrons being served.
