MUSSELS
(Perna canaliculus)
NZ’S ICONIC SEAFOOD
New Zealand Greenshell mussels are our mussels
and we’re proud of them! They’re unique to our
isolated waters and they’re a part of our culture.
Everyone has a mussel memory. And everyone
has a favourite way to cook them – and a strong
opinion on why their way is better than yours!
Globally, they’re recognised as one the world’s
most sustainable seafoods and enjoyed in over
80 countries, which makes them New Zealand’s
     second most valuable seafood species.

                         Mussels are filter feeders,
                         meaning they literally filter their
food from the sea by pumping
the water through their gills. A
120 litres typical adult mussel filters 120
                         litres of water each day.
     filtered each day

     Although no difference in
     quality or flavour, the colour
     of the mussel meat varies
     according to sex. The female
is a deep apricot and the Same Taste
male a soft cream. different colour

King salmon from New Zealand is the champagne

PACIFIC
OYSTERS
(Crassostrea gigas)
NURTURED TO PERFECTION
It’s pretty simple really – we take the best of the
nature and nurture them in pristine waters until
     they’re absolutely perfect.
Every bay, every bend in the river, produces a
     unique oyster.
And when you start with rich, untouched waters
in the deep south of the Pacific Ocean, you get
the most honest oysters in the world.

                         Pacific oysters may
                         change sex more than
                         once during their life span,
                         usually spawning first as a
Sex Change male and subsequently as
       more than once a female.

     Pacific oysters are filter
     feeders, and at adult size
     (80-100mm in length) may
filter up to 100 litres of
     water daily.
                                          100 litres
