Payment will be accepted by check made out to the Dio- cese of Erie or credit card. Registration opens Dec. 29, 2015. We are extremely fortunate to have this block of rooms at this well-located hotel. Hotels in downtown Philadelphia are either sold out or asking more than three times the normal rate, especially for the weekend. Therefore the diocese must make an immediate deposit with the hotel. We will confirm your reservation by email receipt. It is your responsibility to follow the payment schedule. Reservations will be accepted by mail only and on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to give everyone in the diocese the same chance, no reservations will be accepted by phone, by email or in per- son. Reservations received after all of the rooms are booked will be notified of the situation and added to a waiting list if they choose. Only pilgrims reserving the entire package may travel with the group. Arrangements cannot be made for just the bus or just hotel accommodations. Breakfast is included daily, but additional meals are not included or being organized. Pil- grims will be encouraged to pack food that can be taken into the city for snacking each day. We cannot predict the conditions in Philadelphia. We will do our utmost to facilitate your enjoyment of the pilgrimage, however, many things will be controlled by the City of Phila- delphia for safety, etc. We are bound by their regulations. Experience with similar Papal events in Rome, including the recent canonization of the popes, has taught us that individ- uals have many different experiences at these types of events. All will be blessed by the presence of Pope Francis whether they catch a glimpse of the Holy Father close up or from afar. Large-screen televisions will be set up at various locations around the city; if the crowds are too large, it may happen that we are directed to a spot away from the main parkway where the Mass is being held. It is likely all will at least see the pope, but we can- not make any guarantees, especially concerning traffic patterns. In addition, pilgrims should be able to stand for long periods of time and walk up to two miles comfortably. A final consideration: The program is non-refundable. If Pope Francis is not able to be present in Philadelphia on Sept 26-27, 2015, as planned, we will still travel to Philadelphia over the weekend. This beautiful city, so rich in history, provides many opportunities for spiritual and tourist activ- ities.
