Sand A Gram February 8th, 2021 Message from Mrs. J Dear Sand Springs Families, HOPE WEEK AT SAND SPRINGS This week is HOPE Week at Sand Springs! I hope you will help your student participate in the daily challenges! Most importantly, we want to promote kindness, inclusiveness, and an environment where students feel safe, cared about, and accepted at school. We have an amazing Jr. Hope Squad led by our counselor Mrs. Caldwell, Ms. Moss, and Mrs. Sube. We appreciate all their efforts to make our school a better place! KEEPING STUDENTS SAFE WHILE ON DIGITAL DEVICES Parents more than ever we are seeing a need to teach our children how to be safe when using technology. Many students are using digital devices unsupervised, or without direct supervision. I wanted to share some resources our district has put together for parents and students to keep children safe when using digital devices. https://www.davis.k12.ut.us/fs/resource-manager/view/051e27d6-0c10-48c6-9832-f26e2da1ad9a Safety in the Digital Age course for parents and students to complete together. http://www.netsafeutah.org/ NetSafe Utah https://www.security.org/resources/protecting-kids-online/ Parents Guide to Protecting Their Kids Online PROCEDURE FOR ENTERING SCHOOL IN THE MORNING Students are to walk around the outside of the school and line up in their assigned spots. Students do NOT enter through the front doors in the morning unless they are attending Student Service Squad or going to breakfast. TEACHER AWARDED $10,000.00 We want to congratulate Miss Shelley one of our amazing Kindergarten teachers! Friday she was awarded the Heidi Martin Mighty Heart of Educational Excellence Award and a check for $10,000.00 to purchase supplies for her classroom. Later this week we will send out a link to the video of her recognition and interview. TEACHER/STAFF TRIBUTE WALL AT SAND SPRINGS I believe ALL of our teachers/staff should be recognized for their hard work and dedication to their students. difference. I’d like to create a Teacher Tribute Wall right here at Sand Springs!
