SARGENT PARK SCHOOL 2 Sargent Park Place Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V8 Phone: 204-775-8985 Fax: 204-786-5859 Melody Woloschuk, Principal Emil Contreras, Vice-Principal mwoloschuk@wsd1.org econtreras@wsd1.org We hope everyone enjoyed a restful and relaxing spring break! As we start back in April, it is hard to believe we are in the final term of the school year. In March, staff and students were actively engaged in a number of events including the transition into entering pandemic response level green. Classrooms that have been moved to larger spaces have gone back to original rooms and routines of traveling to different option classes have created a familiar buzz in our hallways. It was wonderful to see students in movement and experiencing a sense of more normal school routines that we all have missed. Once again, the Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences were held virtually and we wanted to thank all of our families for making and taking the time to meet with teachers to discuss student progress. It was amazing to see the support, discussions, and planning our families and students had with their teachers to ensure a positive and strong finish to this third and final term. Our Scholastic Book Fair was once again held in conjunction with Parent-Teacher- Student Conferences through online ordering. We hope our families and students enjoy their new reading material. Thank you to Mrs. Wilson and Ms. Eisma for organizing this wonderful event and commitment to fostering the love of reading. We appreciate everyone’s support in maintaining the importance of reading. This winter was exceptionally long and cold with many days of canceled outdoor recesses. We want to acknowledge all the hard work the recess and lunch supervisors have done to ensure students were well supervised and had plenty of activities to do during the long days that indoor recess brought us. Thank you also to our patrols for enduring the harsh temperatures to ensure our students crossed our busy streets safely to get to and from school. As well, we want to acknowledge our students for their patience and flexibility during the extreme cold and frigid days. As we now enter the spring season, we hope and look forward to warm and sunny days ahead. This years’ Spirit Week was a huge hit with our students and school staff. The opportunity to showcase school spirit shined bright as students took part in either dressing up in different colors during grade colors day, sporting different head gear during hat day, wearing some throwback clothing, or getting comfy in pajamas during the last day of school before spring break. A huge thank you to Ms. Tetrault, and Ms. Porter for organizing and planning the week. A huge Thank you to the PTA for organizing and launching the 2021 Spring Fundraiser. Once again through the partnership of Glenlea Greenhouse the PTA are selling various garden items such as bedding plants, perennials, vegetables, Gift Cards and more. Visit the website at: www.glenleagreenhouses.com and refer to the information within this newsletter for ordering details. We want to extend our appreciation to Ms. Nash, Ms. Gonzales, and Mr. Thepmany for all their hard work and support which they offered during the period of their term positions. On behalf of the Sargent Park family, we wish you all the best in your future endeavours. Finally to our families and community, we thank you for your continued support and the gift of your children. Enjoy the beauty of Spring! Respectfully, Melody Woloschuk Emil Contreras Principal Vice-Principal April 2022

During I Love To Read the Nursery class discovered Mo Willems Pigeon books. Our favourite seems to be Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus! To complement this we did some step by step drawing and then painted with watercolour. The final product is impressive.
