I build three-dimensional collages from clay, porce- lain and found objects. These materials allow me to create spontaneous sculptural gestures and to preserve them through the firing process. I know the material - I follow it and emphasize its originality. Porcelain and its historical significance exemplify the change of value in our society. Various manufac- turing processes are directly addressed. The vessel “I think of my work as a state- serves as a container for my ideas and thoughts. I am fascinated by past epochs - especially the ba- roque. My view is characterised by admiration and ment in favor of sweetness and loving irony. I quote past stylistic elements and mix them with my personal language of forms - a bizarre sentimentality. A playful dis- mixture - in search of the current zeitgeist. Another focus of my work is the connection between object and space. I question classical forms of pre- covery of the space in between sentation and look for adequate solutions for the in- terface between the object and the exhibition space. joy and melancholia” My exhibition concepts often remind us of theatrical stage situations. I think of my work as a statement in favor of sweet- ness and sentimentality. A playful discovery of the space in between joy and melancholia, it aims at getting lost in details and characteristics and thus negotiates the nature of impermanence.
CLOUDY 2020 SARAH PSCHORN CERAMIC OBJECTS, INSTALLATION In her new group of works CLOUDY, Sarah Pschorn ex- plores the possibilities of plastic deformation of porcelain. She creates clusters, formations, clouds, waves, movement, dance - powerful, moving, humorous sculptural forma- tions - almost soft, almost solid. They are as intangible as they are blurred. They seem to swell up. Or melting. As if we hold our breath and for a moment everything is like frozen, solidified, petrified, but we also know that at any moment everything will start moving again. This new se- ries by Sarah Pschorn is much more subtle than her earlier works, and yet colour plays an important role in these new pieces. She uses them here in a very subtle way - almost invisible and only perceivable through the reflection of light. Almost white. This colour palette is being explored in the current porcelain sculptures. The painterly acti- on is strongly related to the form and the process, so the stroking, rubbing and pressing of the fingers into the soft material is traced. 2020 - A year in which things are different. The artist‘s work has also changed. The CLOUDY series was created during a three-month residency in the former studio of artist Gerhard Marcks in Niehagen on the Baltic Sea coast. The constant northern lights of the studio and the elemen- tal forces of nature influence the artist. In November 2020, these works have been exhibited together with the grafic work of the Berlin artist Valeria Schneider in the She Bam! Gallery in Leipzig.

FIRST CONTACT 2017-18 SARAH PSCHORN OBJEKT- /RAUMINSTALLATION First Contact is a spatial installation that explores the connection between object collages and their architectural surroundings. The objects within the installation, mostly vessel-like collages of clay, porcelain, glass and discarded objects, provide a sculptural interpre- tation of a historially familiar repertoire of forms. The examination of materiality and its aesthetics features largely in the work First Contact. There are allusions to stylistic epochs, which attract and repel each other, allowing an emotional study of form and colour to emerge in the present setting, with the vessel becoming a symbolic carrier of thoughts and ideas. The pieces of the installation emerged from the atmosphere and vivacity of the space in which they were created, an abandoned factory room in the west of Leipzig. They carry like DNA the aesthetic and formal characteristics of the place from which they originated, transporting this genetic information into the exhibition space. For her solo exhibition in the Zuendker- zenhalle at the Museum of Fine Arts, Sarah Pschorn expanded the installation by adding two more works: Pushing each other further und RAW. KÄNDLER-PSCHORN-VASE 2017 SARAH PSCHORN COMMISSON WORK FOR GRASSI MUSEUMS LEIPZIG „The reinterpretation of the Kaendler vase, with its characteristic style and movement based on the historical form, remained un- glazed - in exciting contrast to the shimmering brilliance of the historical lid. This perfect encounter of historical and modern perception also describes the multifaceted diversity of porcelain as a material. Cast seams left standing document the history of the manufacturing process.“ (Schnuppe von Gwinner)
