The Bellevue Collection is looking for the top independent fashion designers in the Greater Seattle area to feature in Fashion Week at The Bellevue Collection’s sixth annual Independent Designer Runway Show (IDRS). FASHION WEEK AT THE BELLEVUE COLLECTION is the place to be in the Northwest for dynamic fash- ion. IDRS kicks off this annual week-long event and last year’s show was sold out with over 600 attendees with coverage from Seattle Met Magazine and other media. PARTICIPATION TIMELINE/MANDATORY MEETINGS & CHECK- POINTS* • APRIL 1 Application packet due • APRIL 21 Selection panel interview • APRIL 24 Selected designers announced • MAY 4 Orientation meeting for selected designers • MAY 19 Check-in #1: Collection concept (sketches, inspiration, swatches, etc.) direction • JUNE 30 Check-in #2: Five completed looks and discuss progress of collection • AUGUST 4 Check-in #3: Review looks and direction of production (media and music) • SEPTEMBER 8 Final fitting of ALL 10 final looks for IDRS 2017 collection, review accessories with stylist • SEPTEMBER 15 Clothing drop-off at Bellevue Square • SEPTEMBER 21 Independent Designer Runway Show, winner announced at show • OCTOBER Winner’s designs featured in Fashion Frames throughout Bellevue Square *Designers are required to attend Panel Interview, Orienation, all Check-ins and Final Fitting. SELECTED DESIGNERS RECEIVE • 10 looks featured in fully produced runway show segment during Fashion Week at The Bellevue Collection. • A feature in IDRS Designer Profile Booklet, distribution to be determined. • Up to a $500 reimbursement for runway look materials. Restrictions apply. • Highlighted in Fashion Week marketing materials including official website, social media, etc. • Mentorship by panel of fashion industry members. • One winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize to further their brand and their collection will be displayed at Bellevue Square during October.
HOW TO APPLY Please submit the following information via email to Julie.Hamasaki@kemperdc.com as a PDF or Word Document. Max 3 pages, but can include additional pages of images only. • Brief explanation of your work • Images of work • Price point & target market • Where/how your product is currently sold • Short-term and long-term goals • Why participation in IDRS would further your work as a designer • Concept of your segment in IDRS show. Application Due April 1, 2017 SELECTED DESIGNERS’ JUDGING CRITERIA Selected designers will be judged by the IDRS Panel Members using the following criteria: • 50% Creativity & originality • 20% Workmanship • 20% Business Model – brand positioning, selling/distribution model, marketing strategy • 10% Presentation • Must be able to produce 10 looks for IDRS 2017 • Must be Fall Fashions • Minimum of 5 looks must be new designs • Contemporary - Runway-ready designs • Designs must be original and fashion forward • Designers must be a Washington State resident • Designers must be able to produce and sell product Questions? TERMS & CONDITIONS INDEPENDENT DESIGNER RUNWAY SHOW FASHION WEEK AT THE BELLEVUE COLLECTION 1. Selection to participate entails an obligation to attend all functions organized by The Bellevue Collection and at which attendance is either mandatory or specifically requested. 2. It is further understood and accepted that the designer will be required to attend the event at his/her own expense. 3. It is recognized and accepted that all decisions of the panel of judges in respect of the awards are within the Panel’s sole discretion, are final and that there is no recourse to appeal. I understand that the award is based on subjective criteria and that I have no vested right to any award. Further, The Bellevue Collection, Kemper Development Company, and their officers, employees, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries or parent companies are neither responsible nor liable for the decisions of the panel or the prize awarded 4. The Bellevue Collection, Kemper Development Company, their officers, employees, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries and parent companies are not liable for personal losses or injuries to participants, models or affiliated personnel except where such loss or injury is due to gross negligence on the part of The Bellevue Collection. 5. The Bellevue Collection, Kemper Development Company, their officers, employees, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries and parent companies are not liable for any loss of garments, accessories, supplies, tools, equipment, or personal items brought to the event by a participant. 6. I/we agree to abide by all established times for fittings, rehearsals, special appearances, media interviews, and shows, and to respect times allotted to prepare for subsequent shows. 7. I/we agree to liaise in advance of the event with the assigned Producer with regard to appropriate music for the designer show, and with the designated make-up and hair consultant(s) with regard to the desired make-up and hair effect. 8. It is understood that The Bellevue Collection reserves the right to either postpone or cancel any function or the entire event in its sole discretion without any liability for loss incurred thereby. 9. It is understood and accepted that The Bellevue Collection reserves the right to review all designs and garments at any time prior to presentation at the designer show in order to ensure quality and completion, and further has the right to remove any garment or design from presentation if, in its sole discretion, it deems appropriate to do so. I agree to abide by all rules, regulations, instructions and condi- tions, now or hereafter imposed by The Bellevue Collection or its agents and employees. 10. All models will execute a “Model Release.” I hereby hold harmless and agree to indemnify The Bellevue Collection, Kemper Develoment Company and their officers, employees, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries and parent companies for any claims made by Models covered by the Model Release. 11. I hereby irrevocably give my consent to The Bellevue Collection and Kemper Development Company and to those they may authorize to photograph, film and/or videotape me and/or my design and art work, and to quote and record statements made by me and to use, reproduce, publicly display, distribute, sell and/or create derivative works from my likeness, any image, images of my design or artwork, and statements made by me (with or without my name) and to identify me by name and/or school and employment information, in all forms of media now known or later developed including, without limitation, on the Internet, for any editorial, promotional, advertising, trade, commercial, or other purpose whatsoever, in perpetuity through the world. I understand that The Bellevue Collection, Kemper Development Company and those they may authorize shall not be responsible for unauthorized duplications or use by third parties on the Internet or otherwise. I hereby release The Bellevue Collection, Kemper Development Company and their officers, employees, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries and parent companies from any and all claims and/or damages that may arise regarding the use, reproduction, display, distribution, and/or sale of my image or images of my designs or artwork, or statements made by me, including any claims of defamation, false light, slander, invasion of privacy or infringement of rights of publicity or copyright. 12. I represent that my work qualifies for submission into this show. I hereby certify that any work or design submitted by me is original and mine alone and that I have the right to grant the permissions given herein. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Bellevue Collection, Kemper Development Company, their officers, employees, agents, affiliates, subsidiaries and parent companies for any and all claims made by third parties related to the alleged unauthorized use of the designs or work I have submitted. 13. I have had the opportunity to consult with an attorney regarding this document and have either done so, or chosen not to do so. I/We have read and confirm acceptance of the General Rules and Agreement for participation in Fashion Week at The Bellevue Collection and agree to abide by the same and any future amendments thereto, should I/we be accepted to present designs/accessories during Fashion Week. If signing on behalf of an entity, I certify that I am duly authorized to execute this document on behalf of such entity.
