(860) 628-5595 Knitted Knockers are special hand- made breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast. Traditional breast prosthetics are usually expensive, heavy, sweaty, and uncomfortable. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can’t be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers on the other hand are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. Knitted knockers are free. If you or someone you know would like to request a pair please contact Lois Mattson or Barbara Dooley. Lois Mattson blmatt18@sbcglobal.net Barbara Dooley bgydooley@gmail.com

Dave Pasco Memorial Concert From the Memorial Garden Board We would like to thank Joyce Buckley for all her donations and work on the Memorial Garden Board. Joyce is resigning and we want her to know how much we appreciate all that she has done. She planted the beautiful Verbena in front of the signboard, took care of the garden on the West Main Street side and do- nated the birdbath there, and was in our rotation schedule of caring for the Me- morial Garden. She also planted the gladiolas on the Church Street side. Thank you, Joyce! God bless you!! Knitting Ministry Fall Breezes and Falling Leaves … Time to capture the colors of Autumn, put away your cottons and linens, and indulge in the warmth of alpaca, merino wool, combined with a hint of silk. Make a pair of mittens, hat, scarf, poncho, or a blanket for you or someone special. New patterns are available. A reminder to our knitters and crocheters we are continuing to make the shawls and lap blankets for the CT VA Fisher House in West Haven. Need information on patterns and size just contact Barbara Dooley. Shawls and blankets must be completed by December 3, 2021. Please clean and complete the labels before presenting the item to Barbara Dooley or Diane Larivee. Our Tree of Warmth is right around the corner. We will be collecting hats, mittens, and scarfs for those in need. Need a pattern, or want to try a new stitch just contact Barbara. In November our thoughts turn to the bountiful gifts before us. I am grateful to be part of our wonderful Knitting Ministry at Plantsville Congregational Church of Christ where our knitting needles, crochet hooks, and bountiful fibers become gifts of comfort and warmth for so many in our church and our state. Fisher House Ministry The CA Board needs your help with a new ministry. We are looking for individuals who would be willing to donate toiletry items to add to Welcome Care Baskets. These care baskets will be going to the Fisher House in West Haven, CT and will be donated in mid-December. This is a com- bined mission that also includes lap blankets and/or prayer shawls created by our Knitting Ministry! Fisher Houses are owned and operated by the Department of Defense or Depart- ment of Veterans Affairs in association with the attached hospital. The VA Connecticut Fisher House is “a home away from home” for families of veterans and service members receiving care at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. The Fisher House enables families to be close to their loved ones during hospitalization, by providing comfortable lodging in a beautiful and relaxing setting, only steps away from the medical center. There is never a charge for families to stay at the Fisher Center. The West Haven Fisher House has 16 suites and opened in May 2018. It provides for New England veterans and service members. The baskets will contain essential care items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, and more. At this time the CA Board would like your help in filling these care baskets with the suggested toiletry items listed below. If you would like to support our veterans and service members and their families, please help us fill these baskets. Collection boxes will be made available on Sun- day, October 24th for your donations, monetary donations will also be accepted. The collec- tion will end on Friday, December 3rd.
