Welcome from Mrs Adams Dear Parents and Carers, I would like to welcome you and your child to Browick Road Nursery. Our Nursery Class is called Busy Bees. I am the morning session teacher and I work alongside Tara (HLTA), Rachel (TA) and Pam (TA). In the afternoon session we are joined by Lizzie (TA) and Amelia. All the Nursery staff are committed to providing a safe, secure and happy environment, encouraging children to learn through play, using the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS). We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life and is entitled to the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. The development of your child should be the result of a shared partnership, a partnership between you, the parent, and us, the Nursery. I invite you to join us in this partnership, to share in the work of the Nursery and to support and encourage your child at home. I hope this booklet provides you with the essential information you need about our Nursery. More information is available on the school’s website, www.browickroadprimary.co.uk. However, if you still have any questions, please do contact the Nursery. Leila Adams Nursery Teacher Vision Statement: Achieving Success Together
Nursery Session Times The Nursery runs every day from Monday to Friday during term time only. For children starting school the following September (Rising 4s), sessions are available every morning . Afternoon sessions are available for 2-3 year olds. Morning sessions run from 8.50am to 12pm. Our afternoon sessions run from 12pm to 3pm. Our Rising 4s may choose to stay all day (8.50am-3pm) Once your child is 4 years old they can attend: Breakfast Club From 7.45am – including breakfast. Your child will then be brought to Nursery. After School Club From 3.15pm to 6pm – with an emphasis on fun and games. A hot snack is included.
Admissions It is the Nursery’s intention to make the setting accessible to all, from all sectors of the local community. We aim to do this by operating a waiting list system. A child can be added to our waiting list at any time by contacting the Nursery via email or by calling the school office. We will need your child’s full name, date of birth, your address and contact details. Your child will be added to our list, and once they reach the age required, and we have a space available, a member of the Nursery team will contact you for further information and to arrange a visit to the setting. For any child who is not in receipt of government funding, an admin fee of £30 is required to cover costs at registration. During your initial visit you will be required to complete the registration paperwork and provide your child’s birth certificate. We require every child to attend a minimum of two sessions. For the Rising 4s this would mean two mornings. Four weeks’ notice must be given for any changes to the agreed contracted sessions. For further information about Admissions please see our Policy. This can be found on the school website or a copy can be obtained from the School office or the Nursery.
Funding The cost of a three hour session is £14.00 and invoices are sent to you termly. The session price is reviewed annually, in September. We are able to accept 2 year and 3-4 year old funding as agreed by the Early Education and Child Care Statutory Guidance. You may also use your tax free childcare/vouchers to pay for sessions. Payment plans can be arranged should this be required. For further information about Funding please see our Policy. This can be found on the school website or a copy can be obtained from the School office or the Nursery.
Things your child will need As the children are able to access both the indoor and outdoor provision we ask that they come in a pair of sturdy, waterproof, outdoor shoes, preferably wellington boots, and bring a named pair of black plimsolls to Nursery all year round. A Nursery uniform is not compulsory. We are happy for the children to wear their own clothes which must be suitable for physical, messy play. We will provide aprons and wet weather suits but these will not always keep your child clean! If you would like to purchase a Browick Road Primary and Nursery School jumper or cardigan, these are available from www.gooddies.co.uk. All children are required to wear clothing that is suitable for the time of year - we will be outside whatever the weather! Your child will require a backpack to enable us to send home letters and pictures etc. Every child keep an entire change of clothes in their bag at all times, and nappies, wipes etc should be sent in each day as required. Milk and water is provided during the morning and afternoon sessions. During morning sessions the children are entitled to free fruit provided by the Nursery. If your child comes in the afternoon, please send in a healthy fresh fruit or vegetable snack, in accordance with the School’s healthy eating guidance. Please provide your child with a packed lunch and a drink if they are staying all day. Children who join the session at 12pm are able to bring lunch if they wish, although this is not essential - some children prefer to eat at home before they come in. Please do not send any form of nuts in lunches or snacks as we are a nut free setting. Please also refrain from sending sweets or fizzy drinks. Please ensure EVERYTHING is named so that it can be returned to you if it gets misplaced. If your child has allergies or requires medication please discuss this with a member of staff.
Key Person We believe that children settle best when they have a Key- Person to relate to, who knows them and their parents well and can meet their individual needs. We want children to feel safe, stimulated and happy at Nursery and feel secure and comfortable with staff. The Key Person role is set out in the EYFS Statutory Require- ments. The Nursery will assign a Key Person and buddy to each child to help develop a bond and close relationship with the child and family. The Key person will be responsible for their child’s inti- mate care, observations and assessments. They will be your first port of call. For all Rising 4 children the Key-Person will be the Nursery teacher. The TAs will be assigned to each child as a second Key Person.
