Colchester MAY 2021 Welcome to our monthly edition of Monkey News Directors Senior Manager The month of May at Monkey Puzzle we have been extremely busy enjoying the transport theme across the nursery. I have really enjoyed watching the exciting early years experiences and activities the children have had access to each day. The children were incredibly creative in making buses, planes, cars and garages and in exploring all the sensory experiences provided. We have been using our outdoor space to create wonderful learning opportunities for all the children across all areas of learning. The children joined in Pyjamarama Day when we joined the nation in encouraging and developing children's interest and love of stories and books. We celebrated EID by encouraging the children to be creative in learning about this wonderful festival. During May we have welcomed some new families to the nursery, we hope you and your children enjoy being part of our nursery family. NEWSLETTER - MAY 2021 MAY RECAP RAINBOW DOLPHIN ROOM The children loved exploring different sea transport including submarines. The children loved learning what these are and then using a ball and paint to make their very own yellow submarine. The children have also enjoyed making their own boats too! They then used these to see if they will float or sink in the water. Following this interest of boats the children have loved making their own large scale boat using a cardboard box! Rainbow Dolphin have been exploring different types of transport this month! They have absolutely loved this topic because transport is a firm favourite within the room. The children have especially enjoyed the new resources in the room which they have been able to explore, this has included a wooden train track, a wooden airport and a wooden fire station with fire engines too. NEWSLETTER - MAY 2021 OCTOPUS ROOM MAY RECAP This month we have had a super exciting month celebrating our theme - Transport. The children take such an interest in this subject, so the team have worked hard to support the children’s learning around this topic. NEWSLETTER - MAY 2021 Exclusion Information ILLNESS / INFECTION EXCLUSION PERIOD Minimum of 5 days from the onset of the rash and all spots must be fully scabbed over Chicken Pox before returning to nursery. Diarrhoea and/or Vomiting Whilst symptomatic and for 48 hours after their last bout of sickness or diarrhoea. Hand, Foot and Mouth All blisters must have dried out before returning to nursery, usually this is after approximately 4-6 days. Headlice There is no recommended exclusion period, however, parents are requested to regularly check their children's hair for head lice and we would be grateful if nursery are informed so that other parents can be alerted to check their child's hair. Impetigo Until the lesions have crusted or healed. Measles Excluded for 4 days from the onset of the rash. Scarlet Fever Excluded from nursery for the first 24 hours after starting treatment. Excluded for 2 days after starting treatment, or 21 days from the onset of symptoms if no Whooping Cough antibiotics. Children must be taking any medication for a minimum of 24 hours before coming in to nursery. Medication can only be administered after the 24 hour exclusion even if your Prescribed Medication child has previously taken the same medication. All medication must be in its original packaging with the prescription label attached and clearly showing child's name. If your child has had any form of immunisations they are not permitted to attend nursery Immunisations for the following 24 hours due to possible allergic reactions. If a child develops a fever whilst at nursery the staff will use natural methods first, such as removing clothing, to try and reduce the temperature while closely monitoring the child and contacting the parents. If a child does require emergency Calpol due to a high Infant Suspension - Calpol temperature of 38 degrees or above the parents will be contacted prior to ensure all details are correct and that they agree with the dosage being given.
