This is Week 12 of 12 in Term 2 2020! Quote of the week; Naku te rourou nau te rourou ka ora ai te iwi—With your basket and my basket the people will live Welcome to week 12, the last week of term 2, HOLIDAYS: It has been a long term 15th April– 3rd July in very unusual circumstances for us all. Our Whakatauki or proverb today is apt. As a school community of families and staff, we have worked hard and well together for the best interests and well being of all of our children. And the children have been brilliant showing resilience and independence. This year ERO were to have visited our school, (and still could) and instead are interviewing BOTs and principals around NZ about the well being of the staff and children in their schools over the lockdown time and since returning to school. Your responses to our question about learning during lockdown has helped us with this. As we head into the two week break and into term 3, we will continue to prioritise the well being of all who work in our school as it is clear that we are not free of Coronavirus yet. SCIENCE INVESTIGATIONS: This week is the culmination of weeks of work from our Y7 and 8 students on this year’s science investigations. It is always very interesting to see what our students choose to investigate and to read their findings. You can do this on Thursday and Friday as the boards will be on display in Kawaka block. Come along and see what our budding scientists are up to. LEARNING CONFERENCES: On the first day of term 3, Monday the 20th July we will be sending home mid-year current levels of attainment in reading, writing and mathematics. You will then have the opportunity to add your thoughts and your child’s to this. We ask that you send this back to school before the learning conferences in week 2. At the learning conference, next learning steps and goals will be set together so that we can maximise and build on what we all learned during lockdown about your child. You can also access EDUCA to see posts there regarding your child’s attainment. Just a reminder that you need to get on to booking your learning conference time for week 2 next term. AG DAY: In case you missed this news, Ag Day is back this year with calves, lambs and kids. This is excellent news. We have a meeting tonight so will have more details for you when we return to school next term. As always take care, keep safe and well over the holiday weeks and we will see you on July 20th. Kindest regards Jan PIRONGIA SCHOOL STUDENT CONFERENCES RELIEVING CARETAKER: Week 2 Term 3 We are very pleased to welcome Sylvia Craig to the staff this week as our temporary Bookings will be open from 24 June 3pm caretaker while Leanne is on leave.
