PENRITH WINS BIG IN NSW BUDGET The NSW Budget is about keeping us safe from COVID-19, supporting families and accelerating our post pandemic economy to create more jobs. Locally, Penrith continues to be a focus for the Berejiklian Government with the budget funding a number of key local projects. These include: • $14.1 million for ongoing school infrastructure projects – Cranebrook High School new learning centre, Jamison High School new hall, Nepean Creative Performing Arts High School new hall, Kingswood High School upgrade, Penrith Lakes Environmental Education Centre and Penrith Public School. • $162.3 million towards the $1 billion Nepean Hospital redevelopment. • $13.3 million to commence construction of the new Emu Plains Commuter Car Park. • Community Building Partnerships increased to $400,000 per year for Penrith for the next two years. • $1.2 million to complete the 1.2km active transport connection from corner Brougham Street, Emu Plains to Mitchells Pass. • $269.4 million for road upgrades to support the new Western Sydney Airport including The Northern Road and starting the M12 Motorway. • Convert Penrith station car park access to Opal Park and Ride. • Continue planning for delivery of the upgrade of Mulgoa Road between Jeanette Street and Jamison Road. In addition to these investments there are over 120 cost of living savings measures like new learn to swim vouchers, free preschool, electricity rebates and continuation of the popular Active Kids Vouchers. It’s a budget that puts more money back in your pocket and keeps the Penrith and NSW Economy strong.
