Our summer gathering fest.... ...with a serious-for-some and fun-for-some 5k run through Shorewood territory at 8:15! Just show up at the House! ...with the world's most fun jog-run for li le kids (1/2 mile) and bigger kids (one mile around our level oval) at 9:00! ...and the best breakfast and coffee you ever saw (thanks to Ann and many of you) on tables in the shade star ng then! ...and what some have called the best golf cart parade (with crea ve make-up) they have ever seen, around 9:35! ...and games for kids of all ages and cra s and face-pain ng plus the most popular egg-toss featuring adults and kids as partners, and three new game-events for kids https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/PrintMessage 1/4
8/16/2019 Shorewood Sands - July 2019 and also the ones we call adults -- star ng around 9:30 and interrup ng the conversa ons all around the meadow! ...and then the compe on in croquet, basketball shoo ng (60-seconds only, Kawhi), corn-hole toss, bocce ball (Swedes may par cipate but Italians always win), golf accuracy (the whiffle golf ball form) -- with really nice prizes for all at the 1:00 pm ice cream social at the playground on Sunday! ...and all this morning is your me to buy one of the very nice tees or sweatshirts or ball caps with the Shorewood Hills logo and the touch of Janet. Check the tables! ...and the occasion for North Loop folks to meet South Loop people and all those on The Level too. No tribalism, please! ...and the Saturday a ernoon event at 4:00, star ng at North Beach with the finish line in the lake at South Beach, is the Interna onal (last year the winner was from California) Paddle Race. Kayaks, paddle boards, sculls, and maybe this year the new "peddle boards" will enter. (This event is subject to being cancelled if the waves are too tumultuous!) And then on Sunday at 1:00, a 48-minute ice cream social and amazing awards ceremony at our playground -- with medals and toys for kids and gi s to Timothy's and Greenbush and Eric's and Sawyer Hardware and Infusco Coffee and Sawyer Garden and Pizza Hut and more. Mum's the Word also! The amazing pickleball popularity! It has been called "the fastest growing sport in America," by the press. There were 11 teams in our own Summerfest "Pickle Pickle Tourney" directed by John Smith two weeks ago. 8/16/2019 Shorewood Sands - July 2019 The paddle ping is loud -- ask those who live near the courts! The "kitchen" is off limits most of the me -- a space next to the net on both sides, and named by the same inventor whose dog is named Pickle. Don't laugh, for he is now rich and famous. Ellen Kelleher teamed with Dave Sellke to win our Pickle Pickle Tourney, bea ng Bob and Janet Beemer in the championship game. See picture of the four. The two hour tourney was double elimina on and the three teams who lost their first two encounters refused pictures and comments. But all said they will be back next year! Annual meeting, Saturday, August 10, at 10:00 With news and updates, quick reports from our officers and team chairs for our proper es and well-being.... With a vote on the 2019-2020 budget formed by our finance commi ee and approved and adopted unanimously by our en re board, to be presented by finance chair Jim Gormley and board president Donna Morgan. No increase in dues. With a need for baked goods please to go with coffee and tea at the 9:30 gathering me. Please just bring them to the Harbert Community Church, at Three Oaks Road at Harbert Road.... With a memorial moment and prayer at the beginning, promptly at 10:00 am, with recogni on of residents and friends who died in this last year.
