Shore Excursions at a Glance We are delighted to be able to provide you with your Shore Excursions at a Glance for our ‘West Coast Gems of Scotland’ Voyage. There is so much to explore within the British Isles, whether you are enticed by the history of some of our iconic cities or wish to enjoy the great outdoors and contrasting landscapes. The following Shore Excursions at a Glance will hopefully give you a taster of what to expect on your wonderful voyage and our Destinations Team will be pleased to provide you with more detailed information and assist you with your bookings once you board the Golden Horizon. Covid Regulations In order to align with changing COVID regulations and to ensure the safety of our guests and communities, timings, content, and capacities will be adjusted as needed. Many venues are currently closed and some inclusions, venues, or destinations may be removed or replaced, subject to their availability and local regulations. Should any excursions be cancelled once you have booked on board, you will be fully refunded for the cost of your excursion. Duart Castle – Half Day Ullapool Standing proudly on a cliff top guarding the Sound of Mull, the Sunday 18th July 2021 castle enjoys one of the most spectacular positions on the west coast of Scotland. Nestled on the shores of Lochbroom is the picturesque town of Ullapool. Despite its small size it is the largest settlement Stornoway for many miles around and an important port and tourist destination. With a strong fishing heritage and surrounded by Saturday 17th July 2021 rugged mountains this is an ideal base for exploring the local landscapes: from Corrieshalloch Gorge to the wild and remote Originally a Viking settlement, Stornoway is the main town highland landscapes of the Geopark on the island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Portree Monday 19th July 2021 This main town on the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides has a thriving cultural centre and is a popular base for exploring the rest of the island. Visitors are drawn to the spectacular scenery including the landscapes that surround Eilean Donan Castle and the dramatic Kilt Rock which looks strikingly similar to a pleated kilt. Eilean Donan Castle – Half Day Located on a little island where three sea lochs meet, in the midst of some of Scotland’s most dramatic scenery. Scorrybreac Walk & History of Portree – Half Day Explore Portree, a bustling fishing town huddled around a charming harbour and continue the Scorrybreac route where you will be rewarded with some fantastic views to Raasay. Port Ellen Tuesday 20th July 2021 A small town on the island of Islay, in Argyll, Scotland. Arriving by ship it is impossible to miss the square shaped Carraig Fhada Lighthouse and its bay of golden sand. The island is best known for its whisky distilleries and you’ll have the chance for a wee dram. An Islay Distillery – Half Day Probably best known for its malt whiskies and eight working distilleries, take a visit to one of the distilleries and of course an opportunity to sample a dram. Centuries Old Finlaggen and the Wetlands – Half Day Finlaggan is a beautiful and peaceful setting and Islay is an important location for migrating birds. Visit the RSPB reserve at Loch Gruinart and join a range for a guided walk through a variety of wetland habitats.
