Honors Program Study Abroad Information Irish Heritage UH/PSC 399 Course – Spring 2022 Travel – May 2022 The JSU Honors and Political Science Programs invite you to enrich yourself in the natural and cultural beauty of Ireland and the inspirational places comprising it by joining us for our Irish Heritage Tour in May 2022. From the city of Dublin to the rolling hills of Killarney, Ireland offers vast immersion and invaluable opportunities for you to experience Irish culture and see one of the world’s most beautiful countries. The Irish Heritage study tour includes an in-depth Dublin experience, in addition to visits to Blarney Castle and the Ring of Kerry, which will provide you with insight into both the incredible man-made achievements as well as the natural riches of one of the world’s most captivating countries. Students will explore the history and literature of Ireland as well as gain insight into Irish policy areas related to their field of study. Basic Information • Sophomore members of the Honors Program in good standing are eligible to apply for the study abroad experience. To qualify, a student must: o Submit their plan to complete the Honors Program.* o have a minimum 3.25 GPA o enroll in UH 399 Study Abroad course in Spring 2022. • We will know exact May departure dates 90 days out. EF will be pairing us with students from other universities to provide an opportunity to get to know other students and to keep the price lower. • Deadline to enroll is December 2021 but early enrollment equals lower prices. • Students must enroll with the name listed on their passports. • If you do not yet have a passport, you must purchase a passport and provide a copy to the Honors Program by March 15, 2022. • See the budget sheet for detailed information. • Students, at their own expense, do have the option of extending their stay in Ireland and EF can arrange their flight home. Students will be responsible for any flight increase as a result of changes to their departure date. Students wishing to extend their stay in Ireland should inform the Honors Program and EF as soon as possible to secure the best pricing. Application for Travel to Ireland May 2022 1. Students must submit a plan of study* for Honors prior to being permitted to enroll in the study tour. Students who enroll in the Irish Heritage EF Study Tour who do not comply with the academic or other requirements will not be allowed to participate. Students must earn a B average in each honors course and maintain a 3.25 GPA. All Honors courses must be taken at JSU. 2. Students will attend all classes for UH 399 and complete all assignments. 3. Students must read the U.S. Department of State’s travel warnings, consular information sheets, and/or public announcements regarding the country they will be visiting.
