When we place our trust in Christ, we do not find ourselves immune to life’s problems, but we can experience true rest and peace in the strength and sacrificial love of Jesus. I. Psalm 91:1-16: A prayer of rest Pilot: “You just obey instructions; we will take care of the obstructions.” Psalmist showing us how to have peace in a dangerous world II. Our broken and sin-saturated world Reasons to worry Life’s problems 1. serious illness 2. bereavement (mourning loss through death) 3. relational betrayal 4. financial ruin III. The promise of peace God’s promise of protection in psalm 91 1. Fortress filled with shields and ramparts 2. Mother bird gathering her hatchling under her wings The promise is NOT: “Nothing bad will ever happen to you.” Satan quotes this psalm to Jesus (Matthew 4:5-6)– Satan wants us to believe that belief in God will make us immune to pain, causing us to be disappointed in God The promise IS: God will save us “in trouble,” not “from trouble.” (the “real you”) 2 Corinthians 3:18; 4:16-17 IV. Sevenfold promise First four promises - God will: Rescue, protect, answer our prayers, and be by our side in trouble Final three promises – God gives us honor (glory) V. Explore Children’s Easter Party Our Easter Party, for children Kindergarten - 6th grade, will be on Wednesday, March 24th at 5:30 pm. Join us on a journey from The Garden to The Cross to discover why Jesus died on the cross and why His resurrection is the foundation of our faith. Activities include a Bible Story, making a service project craft, playing games, and snack. The cost is $5 and can be paid at the door. Health & safety protocols will be in place. Please register your child(ren) on our website. Vacation Bible School Mornings ~ June 7th - 11th, 8:45 am - 12:15 pm Evenings ~ June 6th - 10th, 5:30 - 8:45 pm For children age 4 through those that just completed 6th grade. Climb aboard for mountains of fun at Rocky Railway VBS. On this faith-filled adventure, kids will discover that trusting Jesus will pull them through life’s ups and downs. More information & registration are on our website. Golf League Our golf league will be on Wednesdays, April 21st - September 1st at Lyons Den Golf. This is a handicap league for both men and women of all skill levels. We play 9 holes each week, with tee times starting at 5:15 pm. Cost is $350 for a course membership (league included), which allows you to play anytime through the end of December. Serve Royal Family Kids Camp RFKC is an overnight camp for children affected by the foster care system, filled with fun and Christ’s love. Camp this year is July 11th - 16th, due to COVID we are not recruiting new at camp volunteers, but we do need people to help with special projects and events throughout the week. If you would like to help, visit our website, or complete an interest form located at the connect center in the church entryway. Thank you for your continued support of this ministry. Crosspoint Yard Sale Crosspoint UMC’s annual yard sale, to benefit their missions, will be June 17th - 19th. This is their biggest missions program fundraiser. This sale has always been well supported by our congregation, which is greatly appreciated. They are able to take donations at any time, so if you have treasures you no longer need and would like to donate (anything besides clothing), contact Diana at our church office, diana@churchofthelakes.org or 330-499-8972.
