NZCB Whangarei Charity Golf Day Welcome to our 4th annual golfers’ tournament... Friday 18th March 2022 The Pines Golf Club | 750 Whangarei Heads Road | Onerahi | Tamaterau 0110 We use the term golfers with purpose as this event has been built by golfers, for golfers. We want the best your company or organisation can send us. Our tournament is aimed at raising the brand awareness of New Zealand Certified Builders (NZCB) and to raise funds for worthwhile local charities and organisations. This year we will be supporting the Alzheimers Society Northland Inc. There are several social golf fundraisers played throughout the year, all of which are worthy of support. The social side of our tournament will be at the 19th. This is a competition. Competition Rules • The format will be teams of four players. The three best stableford scores from four will be taken on EACH hole. We appreciate this is a difficult format but as we’ve mentioned, this is a competition. The winning team will have earned the trophy. • Running alongside this will be an individual best nett competition. A current and active (at time of play) NZ registered handicap is compulsory for entry. A maximum handicap of 24 has been set for men and 36 for ladies. Teams can be mixed, playing from respective tees. • If you wish to enter a player above these handicaps, feel free. They will, however, only be allocated the maximum set handicap. • Teams are not limited to one entry per company or organisation. Our pricing and sponsorship structure are explained on page 5 in this booklet. We look forward to your entry and building the NZCB Golf Tournament into the most competitive companies’ tournament in Northland. For any queries please contact Jodi Stoddart – NZCB Whangarei Regional Coordinator Email whangarei@nzcb.nz or phone (09) 438 3467 NZCB Whangarei Charity Golf Day 2022 Page 2

Every golfer had the opportunity to ride the steam club’s Jigger (pictured) with the fastest person winning a prize. "We had a lot of fun, including a couple of people completely derailing the Jigger," said outgoing NZCB Whangarei President Pete Brown. NZCB Whangarei Charity Golf Day 2022 Page 3
Our 2022 charity is . . . Alzheimers Society Northland Inc. Description of services offered Alzheimers Society Northland Inc. is a not-for-profit charitable organisation providing information, support and education to people with dementia and their caregivers and families/whanau throughout Northland. Our services include home visits, support groups, carer education seminars, resources and a dementia care service that provides appropriate activities and stimulation for people with moderate to severe dementia. Alzheimers Society Northland provides a critical service of support, care, information and education to people with dementia and their caregivers and families/whanau in the Northland region (Cape Reinga to Te Hana). As well as individual support, we offer support group sessions and carer education programs to people who are dealing with issues of dementia. This allows an interchange of experience and problem-solving. Existing contracts with the local DHB only cover 79.5% of our costs and are negotiated annually, so there is no certainty of ongoing funding to support the Society’s work. Why we need support One of our roles is providing a day respite for carers by the way of a day program, we operate 6 days a week in Whangarei, a twice-weekly program in Waipu (at the Fire Station) and once a week in Paihia. This gives carers that well earned and needed break, even if it is only from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm. Although the program is fully funded, transport is not, the capital and running cost falls directly to Alzheimers Northland Inc. We mention to carers if they can offer a donation to offset the running costs that’s wonderful but a large number of our elderly clients are in no position to help. We do not make a donation a condition to attend, so we bear those costs ourselves. Our 2009 Ford Transit van is mostly used in the Whangarei area with a weekly trip to Paihia. It has just under 300,000km on the clock and has just started costing us more for regular maintenance and repairs. A replacement vehicle has been priced between $50,000 and $60,000 and the golf tournament would be a great start towards that amount. NZCB Whangarei Charity Golf Day 2022 Page 4
