In November, We Remember Nuacht na Scoile Nollaig 2019 Principal’s Address Wishing all our pupils, their families, the staff, parent’s council and board of management a wonderful Christmas. Thank you all for a very productive first term. It is wonderful to see what we can achieve when we work together. Our junior infants have completed their first term in our school. All have settled in This November, we remembered all the so well and it is fantastic to have these people that we have lost in our lives. We have our advent wreath and Le gach dea-ghuí, our Jesse Tree up. Pádraig Ó Gealbháin Christmas Shoebox Appeal Book Fair In November we held a very successful book fair. Thank you to all the families that supported it. The fair raised close to €5,000 and the school get half this money. All proceeds will go towards the continued maintenance and updating of our school library which will be opening soon. Practice is underway for their next performance in February at the official opening of our new school. Rainbows is a programme for children and Active Advent young people experiencing grief and loss. Ipads boys are really enjoying looking after the guinea pigs. Read the full report from the The school recently purchased a class set ARC below! of ipads. Teachers have received training on the educational scope for these in the classroom. After Christmas each class will have scheduled times to use the ipads weekly. Christmas Performances The Christmas Performances are taking place next week. All parents are welcome to all performances. Monday 16th 1st class @ 11am Tuesday 17th 2nd class @ 11am Wednesday 18th 3rd class @ 11am Holidays Thursday 19th 4th class @11am Our Christmas holidays commence on Friday, December 20th at 11.50 and the Friday 20th Junior Infants @ 9.15am school will re-open on Monday, January Friday 20th 5th & 6th class @11am 6th. Salt and Pepper The boys from the Arc were lucky enough this term to gain 2 class members – Salt and Pepper. The boys asked Mr Galvin’s permission if they could get a pet guinea pig. He let them get 2!! The boys travelled over on the bus to Pet Mania in Portlaoise to buy them. Once the deal was done they treated themselves to baby chinos in Costa Coffee. Upon arrival back to the school the boys had to decide on the names. After suggestions gathered from the whole school a Guinea Pig Naming Committee was formed. After much deliberation the name Salt and Pepper was chosen. The
