During my time, I was fortunate enough to take part in the student exchange program to Hyderabad - India. It was a whole different community by itself which gained me a fruitful experience which I learned much from it. I even made many friends along the way and have been strengthening the friendship by networking and connecting with them until today. My participation in a number of sporting events such as MSSWP helped to build my confidence and sportsmanship. Alumni Newsletter Apr 2021 | Issue 20
PAGE 4 Shannon ALUMNI Hosanah OF THE Wester, Batch MONTH 2013 Student life at SJIS was indeed exciting as I had amazing friends which kept me entertained at all the times and never made me experience any dull moment. Getting sweat by playing futsal at SJIS futsal court before the first lesson of the day was a brilliant way to stay energised for the whole day as well. My teachers at SJIS were very kind and courteous as they would always be there for the students whenever needed in providing their assistance and knowledge. If I were to give advice to my fellow students, it would be to have fun and enjoy the student life as I believe life should get harder only after school. I’ve always had a great relationship with my teachers and faculty members. Though I was rather mischievous and didn’t always pay attention in class, they were always kind and caring towards me. Even though it has been almost 10 years , I still remember them, and it feels great to know that they remember me too. Mr Saiful deserves a shout out , and we were so lucky and thankful to have him as the best class teacher ever. I am currently working as a Junior Engineer at JOHNSON CONTROLS specialising in HVAC systems, and I am looking forward for more exciting adventures and achievements in future. PAGE 5 The Siblings from St. John’s International Secondary School Lydia Cherish Wester Batch 2013 in accepting cultural melange in having friends from different backgrounds. My younger brother and I registered as SJIS students at the same time, and he joined as a lower secondary student. Having a sibling in the same school could be annoying at times, but at the same time, it can give a sense of security as well. Also, it’s a sibling thing to support each other from distance and yet be competitive concurrently. As a homeschooler, enrolling as a student into St.John’s International School Student life was amazing at SJIS , and I can certainly gave me a culture shock. As I never forget the memories I made there. From was exposed to students and teachers running across the hallway, hiding from from different religious and ethnic certain teachers,to having lunch at our backgrounds, I surely experienced a favorite seat. Not to mention, the preparation social diversity which was an eyeopener and hype of SJIS Sports Day! ALUMNI OF THE Currently, I am an accountant and working full time handling the accounts MONTH for SOCAR MOBILITY SOLUTIONS. Prior to that, I was an auditor in KPMG. SJIS alumni events allow me to indulge myself in recollecting wonderful and old memories which I made with SJIS friends and teachers. The events also allow me to appreciate my schooling life more as I could not reverse the time because I am a working adult now. School life was definitely a lot less stressful! I hope to participate in more alumni events organised by SJIS and continue networking with my friends and teachers. Alumni Newsletter Apr 2021 | Issue 20
