Early Literacy
(Age 0-5, or not yet in Kindergarten)
Weekly Activities
Storytime: Mondays & Tuesdays @ 10 a.m. Enjoy stories, songs,
rhymes, activities, friendships, and so much more in our Storytime!
This 30 minute program is for children 3-8 years old. Children and
caregivers are both expected to participate.
After-School Storytime: Tuesdays @ 4 p.m. Join us after school
for a wonderful storytime!
Itty Bitty Book Buddies: Wednesdays @ 9 a.m. & 10 a.m. A great
start with your baby or toddler begins with early literacy skills.
Introduce them to stories, songs, and language during this lapsit
storytime just for them. For infants & toddlers.
REGISTER AT HAYSLIBRARY.BEANSTACK.ORG Explorers: Thursdays @ 10 a.m. Join us each week to be
immersed in story-building, imagination, and STREAM concepts! Adult assistance is needed. For ages 3-8.
Early Active Reading: Fridays @ 11 a.m. Exercise your brain and
your body in this active reading class. We will review letter sounds and
combine early literacy skills with kinesthetic movement. For ages 3-8.
Family Storytime: Jan. 21, Feb. 11, March 25, April 29 @ 10 a.m. All
ages are welcome to attend Saturday Family Storytime. Listening to
stories as a family shows children that reading is important!

Dr. Seuss Storytime & Celebration: March 2 @ 10 a.m.
Easter Storytime and Egg Hunt: April 3 @10 a.m.
Storytime for Children’s Day: April 28 @ 10 a.m.
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Hays Public Library, in cooperation with the 1000 Books Foundation, invites you to participate in this free
program which encourages you to read 1,000 books with your children before they start kindergarten. Join
Hays Public Library by participating in our reading challenge! Grow your child’s literacy skills by reading
to newborns, infants, and toddlers. To register your child go to hayslibrary.org/1000-books or stop by the
library.

Relax on Monday afternoon with a movie and snacks!
Cards & Crackers and Build It!: Alternating Thursdays @ 4 p.m. Learn new card and board games. Show
us your engineering skills. We have Legos, Magnitiles, Lincoln Logs, Zoobs, and Play-Doh! Video Games: Wednesdays @ 4 p.m.
Chess: Fridays @ 4 p.m. Want to learn to play chess? Need to sharpen your skills? Chess Club is for you! Join us for a snack and a game of your choice. We have the Wii, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch!
Instructor Randy Brull will teach you everything you need to know about the game.
D&D Club: 1st & 3rd Thursdays @ 5 p.m.
STEAMWorks: 1st and 3rd Fridays @ 1 p.m. A STEAM-based program for home-schooled students. Choose your role and join the fantasy of Dungeons & Dragons.
