RECYCLING BIN GREEN WASTE BIN 240L The green-lidded bin is emptied fortnightly and the waste is processed into compost at the Suez North Bannister Resource Recovery Park. Please place garden waste items loosely into the bin, not bagged, boxed or tied with string. Please do not put: food or general waste; glass or plastic; animal waste or kitty litter; sand, rocks or building material; plant pots, tools, hoses or other garden equipment; or large logs into this bin.
360L The yellow-lidded bin is emptied fortnightly, on the alternative fortnight to the green-lidded bin. The recyclables are sorted at the Suez Bibra Lake Material Recovery Facility. Place clean recyclables loosely into the recycling bin, not bagged. Remove lids from bottles and containers and flatten boxes. Aluminium cans, coffee or Milo tins, balled aluminium foil Steel cans and tins, beer bottle tops and steel lids Paper (not shredded), magazines, newspapers, junk mail, flattened cardboard boxes, egg cartons Plastic bottles (lids removed and rinsed) Plastic containers e.g. yoghurt, ice cream or margarine containers Glass Jars and bottles (lids removed and rinsed) Please do not put: soft scrunchable plastics or plastic bags, aerosols, meat trays, polystyrene, UHT silver lined milk or juice containers, tissues and paper towel, nappies, clothing and shoes, toys or electronics in this bin. WHERE TO PUT YOUR BIN WASTE BIN WASTE BIN 140L The red-lidded bin is emptied weekly and the waste is disposed of at the Millar Road Landfill Facility, Baldivis. General household waste, food scraps and meat trays Nappies, tissues and paper towel, and other personal hygiene items (no sharps) Soft plastics e.g. bread bags, frozen veggie packets, clin film and plaastics bags Animal litter or droppings Clothing, rags and textiles Broken toys and ceramics Hazardous household waste items do not belong in any of the bins. NO liquids or oils NO hot ashes (to avoid fires) NO construction, demolition or building materials (no bricks, sand, soil, concrete, rocks or asbestos) NO medical waste or needles NO batteries NO hazardous household waste (petrol, flammable liquids, paints, motor oils, fluids, garden chemicals, poisons, pool chemicals, cleaners, acids, bleaches, ammonia, medicines or gas cylinders).
• Place bins on the kerb with wheels facing the house • Keep one metre distance from objects such as trees, fences, cars and light poles • Please do not park cars next to bins in lane ways on bin collection day • Return bins to your property as soon as possible • Store bins in a shaded area • Rubbish must be free flowing, do not jam waste into your bin • Lids must be closed • Wrap all moist and perishable foods in newspaper before placing into your red-lidded waste bin • Clean bins regularly WHERE TO PUT YOUR BIN WASTE BIN

PLEASE DON’T: Obstruct the footpath, your bin service or the line of sight of pedestrians, cyclists and cars Place waste too close to fences, trees, cars, power domes, or other objects that may get damaged when waste is collected Place your waste inside your property line Place your waste on any other verges as it will not be collected from vacant land and public reserves Place out more than the allowed volume. Verge waste is collected from your verge with machinery, which can damage artificial turf. VERGE WASTE COLLECTION MAP AND DATES
Green Waste Verge Collection The following WILL be collected: Tree and shrub prunings up to • 1.5 metres in length • 350 mm diameter. The following WILL NOT be collected: Leaves and lawn clippings Bags or boxes of leaves and grass clippings, weeds or root materials Sand and soil materials Dug out lawn Any branches exceeding 1.5 metres in length or 350mm diameter General waste, junk or whitegoods. Place out 48 hours prior to collection date Maximum total per property is 3m3
General Waste Verge Collection The following WILL be collected: Metals and whitegoods (fridges, stoves, etc.) TV screens and computer equipment Mattresses Old furniture (up to 1.5 metres in length) Timber (up to 1.5 metres in length) Bulk general waste. The following WILL NOT be collected: Waste exceeding 1.5 metres in length Green waste, bags of leaves or grass, stumps or palm logs Food waste Car bodies, vehicle parts, batteries or tyres Paints, chemicals, oils or gas bottles Asbestos, Hardifence, Super Six (fibre cement) products, bricks, sand, cement, concrete or building rubble All glass including plate glass, shower screens, glass tables or mirrors. Place out 48 hours prior to collection date To maximise recycling place in four piles: Fridges and Other Mattresses General whitegoods metals Waste Maximum total per property is 2m3 GREEN WASTE AND GENERAL WASTE VERGE COLLECTION
LANDFILL FACILITY MORE INFORMATION More Information General junk too good to be landfilled? Mattresses, metal items and fridges are recycled if they are separated from the general waste on the verge. All of the other general waste will be landfilled. If an item you have placed out is too good to be wasted, consider donating it to charity. For information on where and how to donate visit www.giv.org.au Non–conforming waste Residents can take their non-conforming waste to the Millar Road Landfill Facility, open 7 days from 7.30am to 4pm (closed Christmas Day and Good Friday). Fees payable by tip pass, cash or EFTPOS. Metals and recyclable items can be dropped off for free. For further information please contact Waste Services on 9528 0333. Important Waste left behind after the collection has passed is your responsibility and must be removed from your verge within seven days or $200 to $500 LITTER INFRINGEMENT FINES may be issued.
Millar Road Landfill Facility Millar Road West, Baldivis Open 7 days, from 7.30am - 4pm (closed Good Friday and Christmas Day) Payment by tip pass, cash or EFTPOS A number of items are free of charge to drop off for recycling and include (but not limited to): • All scrap metal, including fridges, washing machines and microwaves • Cardboard • Polystyrene, excluding seedling drainage squares • Gas bottles, domestic only (under 10 kg only) • Car batteries • Engine oil (maximum of 20 litres per person per day) • Hazardous household waste (maximum of 20 litres or 20 kgs per item) • E-waste recycling (residential quantities only) • Red fire extinguishers only • Other reusable items may be accepted at the discretion of City officers. Please separate items from general waste in the load before entering site otherwise fees may apply. Shopping at the Recycle Yard The Reuse Shop is open from 7.30am - 4pm on Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays (closed Good Friday and Christmas Day). A number of items, from building materials to bric-a-brac, are available for sale in the recycling yard of the Millar Road Landfill. Any member of the public is welcome to take a look. Enter site through the weighbridge car lane, and park in the limestone carpark. Items can be paid for by cash or EFTPOS. Shredded Green Waste Prunings brought to the landfill are shredded onsite and offered free to the public for their gardens (when available). People are required to load their own trailers.
