Michigan Academy is YPAD Cer fied. What does that mean for you?
Our staff has been trained and cer fied and we follow the guidelines set by the
YPAD (Youth Protec on Advocates in Dance). It is an interna onal organiza on
whose main objec ve is to protect and develop healthy, happy dancers. At the
Academy we are focused on a structure of measures designed to create a safe
studio environment which starts with requiring students and staff who are ill to
stay home, followed by frequent hand cleaning and good hygiene prac ces,
amplified cleaning, and making curricular and facility adapta ons to minimize
contact and mingling.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM AGES 2 - 4
The Academy Preschool Program is for our youngest students. These classes are designed to enhance
the development of gross motor skills, balance, coordina on, musical awareness, and listening skills
while nurturing children’s natural crea vity. Each class includes developmentally appropriate
instruc on through the use of music and dance. Dancers have the opportunity to perform at our
December Holiday Showcase and our Spring Recital in June.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAM AGES 5 & 6
The Academy Children’s Program is the perfect opportunity for the early elementary school‐age dancer
to grow in confidence as they learn technique basics. Dance helps children develop emo onal, social
and cogni ve skills, while teaching them the importance of dedica on, discipline and focus. Dancers
perform at our December Holiday Showcase and our Spring Recital in June.

GRADED TECHNIQUE & SPECIALTY CLASSES
In Levels 1 & 2 Graded Technique classes students build founda ons in movement, technique, vocabulary and choreography. In addi on, students are encouraged to try styles
such as Lyrical, Modern, Hip Hop and Acro. In Levels 3 & 4 students build strength, flexibility and control while developing confidence in their ar s c expression . Levels 3 & 4
are encouraged to try new styles such as Pre‐Pointe, Pointe and Stretch & Condi oning. Dancers perform at our December Holiday Showcase & June Spring Recital.
