Auckland - Feb 8 (B) Welcome to Aotearoa – New Zealand! A representative will meet & greet you at the Auckland International airport with transport waiting to take you to your city hotel. At the Skycity Hotel enjoy a buffet breakfast, before heading off on a 2-hour sightseeing tour of Auckland “The City of Sails” hosted by your driver guide that will accompany on your travels of the North Island. This first afternoon and evening is free for you to explore, or simply relax and enjoy the facilities of your hotel, Sky Hotel Auckland
Auckland - Feb 9 (B,L) Today you will discover for yourself why Waiheke Island is world renowned for its wines, stunning local scenery and friendly local people on the “Taste of Waiheke Tour”. Our driver will transfer us to the ferry terminal where the tour commences and collect us upon scheduled completion of the tour. The evening is free for you to explore Auckland and are of your own arrangements…. perhaps a visit to the vivacious viaduct area, or perhaps book yourself into “Orbit” at SkyCity to enjoy 360° Dining & spectacular views of Auckland. You board your ferry at Downtown Auckland Ferry Terminal or Devonport Wharf, and enjoy a pleasant cruise through the Hauraki Gulf to Waiheke Island. On arrival you will be greeted at the wharf by your tour driver and directed to your coach. Your first visit is to Stonyridge Vineyard, where you will enjoy a tour and tastings, plus a sumptuous light lunch. You then depart for Rangihoua Estate, which introduces you to Waiheke’s olive growing industry (includes olive oil tasting). A stop at “Wild on Waiheke” offers optional beer tasting as well as wine, and the chance to sample home grown preserves and chutneys. Your tour is concluded with final tastings at the beautiful Mudbrick Vineyard before returning to the ferry terminal. Once the tour is over, you can either board the next ferry, or use your All-Day Bus Pass to further explore the island. If you choose to stay on for a later sailing, you will need to make your own way back to the hotel. The actual tour lasts 5½ hours including ferry travel to and from the island, but you can stay longer and make use of your All-Day Bus Pass. Includes: Open Waiheke return ferry ticket, guided tour of 3 vineyards; Stonyridge, Wild on Waiheke and Mudbrick, vineyard entry fees and tasting, a light lunch at Stonyridge, olive oil tastings at Rangihoua Estate and a bonus All Day Bus Pass after the tour.
Auckland - Feb 10 (B), 11 (B) Feb. 10 Morning round of golf at Gulf Harbour Country Club. This Robert Trent Jones Jr. design course, rates in the top ten in the country by most critics and provides a golfing experience that is truly world-class. Feb. 11 Morning round of golf at Muriwai Golf Club To play Muriwai is to play the game of golf as nature intended. The Muriwai Golf Links is a true links course offering all year round golf, dry underfoot in the winter & irrigated fairways for great summer conditions.
Rotura - Feb 12 (B, D), Feb 13 (B, L) Feb. 13 This morning an early departure sees you bid farewell to the ‘City of Sails” and head to the cultural heartland of the North Island, Rotorua. Enroute you will visit the Waitomo Glowworm Caves before arriving into Rotorua the centre of Maori Culture and famous for its boiling mud pools and steaming craters. You will enjoy a brief orientation and sights tours provided by your driver guide upon arrival into Rotorua. Tonight, dinner is included for you to enjoy as a group at your hotel, Novotel Rotorua Lakeside. Feb. 13 This morning head off to see the wonders of the Wai-O-Tapu and view the eruption of the Lady Knox Geyser. Then you be taken to enjoy a Gondola ride at the Rototura Skyline complex taking you up Mount Ngongotaha to enjoy the Panoramic views of Rotorua City, Lake Rotorua and the surrounding area. You will have time to enjoy both the views and a buffet lunch in the fully licensed Cableway Restaurant. Upon completion of your meal and time at Skyline, your driver will transport you back to your hotel for you to enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure and of your own arrangements.
Rotura - Feb 14 (B, D), 15 (B), 16 (B), 17 (B, D) Feb. 14 ( B, D) Today you are booked to enjoy 18 holes at the Rotorua Golf Club, New Zealand’s only geothermal golf course, with many holes played over and around both dormant and active thermal areas. Your driver will provide return transfers to the Course for you. Please confirm your departure time with your tour escort or coach driver guide. This afternoon you will be collected at 4:30pm to visit and experience a cultural evening at Tamaki Cultural Village and “Hangi”. Feb. 15 ( B ) Today you are booked to enjoy 18 holes at the Kinloch Club. As New Zealand’s only Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, and with arguably some of the country’s finest drainage. Feb. 16 ( B ) - Free day for you to explore on your own. Feb. 17 ( B, D ) Today you are booked to enjoy 18 holes at the Wairakei Golf Club, voted New Zealand’s # 1 golf course. Many find sanctuary on a golf course but it is rare to find a golf course that is a sanctuary. The ecological restoration is the first of its kind in New Zealand and was prompted by golf course owner Gary Lane’s desire to create a unique environment where golf and the natural habitat work in harmony. Tonight, dinner is included for you to enjoy as a group at your hotel.
Queenstown - Feb 18 (B) Feb. 18 This morning an early departure sees you farewell Rotorua, and visit the middle earth as you tour the Hobbiton Movie Set at Matamata. Experience the real Middle-Earth with a visit to the Hobbiton™ Movie Set, the bucolic setting for The Shire™ that featured in the Peter Jackson directed films, The Lord of the Rings and your tour starts with a drive through the picturesque 1,250 acre sheep farm with spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges. Your guide will escort you through the twelve acre site recounting fascinating details of how the Hobbiton Movie set was created. The Hobbit holes, Green Dragon™ Inn, Mill and other structures created for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films can be viewed and you will see how this beautiful piece of Waikato farmland was transformed into The Shire from Middle-Earth. Continue on to Auckland airport for flight onwards to Queenstown, on the South Island. On arrival, transfer to Novotel Queenstown Lakeside. Queenstown - Feb 19 (B), 20 (B, L) Feb. 19 Free day for you to relax and explore on your own. Feb. 20 Enjoy a brief orientation and sights guide provided by your locally based driver guide before being dropped at the departure point of the historic TSS Earnslaw Steamship. Your driver will collect you after your scheduled return from your visit & BBQ lunch at Walter Peak Farm, and transfer back to your hotel for you enjoy the rest of your afternoon and evening at leisure. Sit back on the lakeside terrace and savour the enticing aromas as the chef cooks a selection of food on the barbecue. Guests can enjoy a unique dining experience at Walter Peak where the menu showcases food and wine from the wider Central Otago region. Chefs prepare a tasty selection of meats on the outdoor grill, while fresh, seasonal salads and vegetables are available from the dining area of the Colonel’s Homestead. Top off lunch with a selection of delicious sweet treats and local cheeses. Before or after lunch, the rural demonstrator will give guests an insight into life in the New Zealand high country by providing an entertaining farm show including working sheep dogs and sheep shearing.
Queenstown - Feb 21 (B), 22 (B), 23 (B), 24 (B) Feb. 21 Today you are booked to enjoy 18 holes at the Millbrook Golf Club. Your driver will provide return transfers to the Course for you. There will be some time to explore Arrowtown, a former Gold Prospecting town, before you head to the course. This evening is your own arrangements. Feb. 22 This morning you have some free time before you head off to enjoy 18 holes at Jack’s Point Golf Club. Jack's Point is one of the most visually spectacular in the world. Your driver will provide return transfers to the course for you. This evening is your own arrangements. Feb. 23 Free day to relax or catch up with any last minute shopping. Feb. 24 Depart for airport for our flights home.
