Tutor • Every student is assigned to a base class which has a tutor. • The Tutor is a pastoral role and is a direct point of contact for the class group • The Tutor meets each morning with his/ her tutor group for an 8-minute Tutorial period. During this period, the Tutor will: • The Tutor will always teach the class at least one subject • Take attendance on ePortal, engage students in a brief wellbeing activity each morning, check school uniform/ appearance, collect absence notes, distribute general information, check journal for correspondence from home/ notes from teachers etc. and sign student journal weekly.
• All 1st year students will participate in Core Subjects: • English • Irish • Maths • History • Geography • Science • Modern European Language – Spanish or French option Curriculum Students with learning exemptions from Irish and MEL will participate in Learning Support Classes during these lessons • Students will also complete the following short courses: • CSPE • PE • Coding
First Year Option Subjects • Incoming 1st year students will participate in Taster Option subjects from September – December. • These are: • Art • Materials Technology Wood (Wood Work) • Technical Graphics • Music • Home Economics • Technology • Business Studies • Wellbeing
TASTERS
Currently we have 2 small breaks and 2 lunch times. We also have a staggered start and finish times for year groups to avoid large groups moving at once School Day First Years have tutor time from 08.30-08.38 every morning and finish school at 15.35pm. Break is from 10.00-10.15 am and Lunch is 12.15- 12.55 There are no lockers or canteen facilities available at present.

Digital Tools: Microsoft Class NoteBook • OneNote Class Notebook is a digital whiteboard, personal workspace, library for notes and collaboration space for lessons and creative activities.
Digital Tools: Assessment for Learning • Digital apps used for formative assessment provide quick feedback on how learning is progressing. • Students use digital tools to reflect on their own learning. • Digital tools supports students in becoming independent and self- motivated learners.
We operate a Book Scheme for Incoming First Years Students. The cost of the Book Scheme in 1st year is approx 100 euro Book Scheme Students receive hard copies of their books with an ebook code Students download the ebook onto their iPad to bring to school Students leave their books at home to use to study at home

Build Up for Lusk CC
Why we use Build Up in LCC? • Online mathematic skills program • Fully aligned to the Irish Junior Cycle Mathematics Curriculum • Students develop their maths skills at their own pace. • Provides high level of personalised support to each individual student
How Students use Build Up in the Classroom? • Maths assignment to be completed in class or for homework. • Students complete maths questions online • Difficulty level of the question adjusts to suit each student. • Provides students with a fully worked out solution. • Each student receives a grade at the end of every lesson • Recommends another concept to work on
How Teachers Monitor Progress Teacher dashboard highlights who is working, when and for how long. Teacher can access a report for every student. Report identifies exactly where a student is struggling, right down to individual answers given. Each topic provides a clear breakdown of which skills have been mastered.
What are the Benefits? Teacher can identify who needs assistance and on what questions. Effective learning experience for each individual student. Builds student's engagement and confidence in maths. Develops student independence in their learning.
