To that end, can I please stress to parents, students and staff to look after yourself and do what you can. Remote learning is difficult for everyone and we all have days when we are not as motivated as others. Please do not apply too much pressure on yourselves. This will be over soon, and we will get back to normal. Sophie Cotsis – Today Year 12 had a Q&A session with our local MP, Ms Sophie Cotsis. Ms Cotsis answered a number of questions and listened to the concerns of the students in her local electorate The boys very much appreciated Ms Cotsis’ time and felt reassured that someone in her position took the time out of her busy day to answer their questions. Positive News - Yesterday the school received a lovely email from one of our Year 7 parents. We are building a culture of celebrating student success, but it was very nice for a parent to recognise the great work staff are doing during these trying times. P&C Meeting – Tonight we will be holding our Term 3 P&C meeting via Zoom. At tonight’s meeting, we will hear from our Careers Advisor, Ms Giameos about the post school destination options for our students. Ms Giameos is an amazing Careers Advisor. We are very lucky to have her. This is a great opportunity for parents to ask the questions they would like answered in this supportive environment. I encourage all parents to attend. Our school is open with minimal supervision onsite to support those students who cannot be educated from home. We are endeavouring to support all our students through these challenging times. We ask that you assist us by letting the school know if there are any additional needs, regarding your son’s learning, that we can help you with. Please encourage your sons to complete their online lessons and have sufficient down time for their own life-work balance. We are following guidelines set by the Department of Education and will continue to communicate any changes about online learning when advised. Please continue to check emails, texts and our Facebook page. College The return of HSC students to on-site activities will continue to be based on the latest NSW Health advice. All students in identified LGAs of concern must continue learning from home until advised otherwise. This means that College students can no longer return to school on 16 August. This also means that onsite trial examinations have been cancelled and are being replaced by online modified assessment tasks. Week 7 is being regarded as an assessment block for College students. This means that regular Zoom/Google Classroom lessons will not be timetabled throughout week 7. Below is a timetable indicating the assessment task schedule and the starting time for each task. As Mr Dummett has said, College Two and their parents had a Q and A with Ms Sophie Cotsis, Member for Canterbury. Ms Cotsis was able to hear some of the concerns of our community, she is a great advocate for her electorate and was able to provide some great advice to students and families around some specific issues. Student Representative Council (SRC) The school would like to congratulate Ms Amanda Simpson as the successful applicant for the role of SRC coordinator late last term. Ms Simpson and the members of the SRC met last week to discuss ideas about how to increase student’s social interactions during online learning. The students came up with some exciting ideas ranging from online trivia competitions to online multiplayer games. The SRC team is now researching the best ways to bring these ideas to realisation. The students have also developed a survey which will be coming your way soon. Keep your eyes out for more information from the SRC team.
