Interdisciplinary Teams (ITs) What are ITs? Your student’s team of Administrator, Counselor, Science, English and Social Science teachers (math, PE and electives are off-team but included in discussions) Purpose of ITs? to take a large school and make the experience more developmentally appropriate. The group of teachers/students that YOUR student interacts with becomes smaller and less overwhelming. ITs have regular meetings to discuss students who may need additional academic or social/emotional help. This is part of our multi-tiered system of support. How? - ITs will meet regularly and use their discussions to assist students on Mondays and/or during class time. Administrators and Counselors might also need to help students on occasion. Our master schedule is built so that students will have the same teachers all year.
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) What is SEL? Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults: ■ Understand and manage emotions ■ Establish and maintain positive relationships ■ Set and achieve positive goals ■ Make responsible decisions ■ Feel and show empathy

Some of our SEL themes and lessons will include: ● Building Relationships-What motivates you, Tossing out negative thoughts, Social network norms ● Collaborating-Collaborating in a group ● Help-Seeking Behaviors-Self-Advocacy, It’s okay to ask for help ● Habits for Success-Time management, Using a task organizer, Finding a media balance
