FEBRUARY 2022 520 West Church Street Albion, Nebraska 68620 402.395.2926 www.stmichael.esu7.org The mission of St. Michael’s School is to provide a challenging academic education integrated with Catholic values and morals, which will promote self-discipline, social responsibility, and a life-long enthusiasm for learning. NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Let all that you do be done with Love. Corinthians 16:14 As I sit down to write this we are preparing for our 100th day of school. It is crazy to think that our students are 100 days smarter and that we have been in school for that many days!! Even better is that we have been in person and have not had many inter- ruptions, only tornado-like weather in December! We are also getting ready to turn the calendars to February next week, how is it that we blinked and January snuck by us. With February, that means Valentine’s Day, the day of love, (hint time to be ordering chocolates or flowers)!! Speaking of ‘love’ I am pretty excited that next week we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week! This is my first time truly cele- brating Catholic Schools Week, but I cannot wait to see what it is all about! Everyone that I talk to always says, “I Love Catholic School Week, the best week of the year!” From teachers to students to even a public school teacher that went to a Catholic School just told me earlier tonight, “oh I miss Catholic Schools Week, I loved that week!” So I have some pretty high expectations for next week, but I am also pumped about getting to celebrate the week with students and staff. But this really makes me stop and ponder, why do we only celebrate Catholic Schools for one week? Parents, why do you send your students to a Catholic School? Do your own children know why you have chosen to send them to St. Michael’s? Do you share with your friends and family about your choice and the great things we are doing at St. Michael’s and many of our Catholic Schools? I can tell you that even only after 100 days, I am proud and love that I get to say that I am the principal of such a great school and that we have some top-notch teachers and some impressive students. These teachers hold our students accountable and have high expectations for the learning but also follow the Catholic values for them to carry into the future. Our students’ testing data, whether it be Acadience or the STAR, shows that our students exceed many students across the nation! I could go on and on bragging about our staff and students, but for now, I will anxiously wait for the best week of the year! ~Mrs. Tina Thiele-Blecher St. Michael’s Preschool is now taking applications for 2022-2023 Preschool classes. Applications can be found on the school web site: www.stmichael.esu7.org or contact the school office
