NACRA Queensland Championships Hervey Bay Sailing club Notice of Race 30th December 2020 to 5th January 2021
NOTICE OF RACE The organising authority of the regatta is the Nacra Association of Queensland district in conjunction with Hervey Bay Sailing Club. 1. RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined by the 2017-2020 World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 1.2 Australian Sailing Special Regulations Part 2 for Off the Beach Boats will apply. 1.3 The class rules of the Nacra Association of Australia Inc. shall apply. 2. ADVERTISING 2.1 Advertising will be restricted to Category A. 2.2 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the NACRA class. 3.2 All entrants must ensure their vessels are class legal. 3.3 Eligible boats may enter before the 18th December 2020 by completing and emailing the attached entry form with online payment of the registration fee. 3.4 Late entries will be accepted with a late fee of $20 up to 1200 hours on the 30th December 2020. EFT / credit card facilities will be available at HBSC. 3.5 Competitors must be current members of their National Authority and the NACRA Association. 3.6 All competitors (Skipper or Crew) under the age of 18 years, must have his/her guardian complete the “Guardian’s Consent” section on the registration form. 4. FEES Required fees as follows: Class / Division Entry Fee Two person boat $280.00 One person boat $190.00

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 5.1 Event Timetable Day / Date Event Times 30th December 2020 Registration 1030 to 1330 hours 30th December 2020 Meet and Greet 1800 hours 31st December 2020 Briefing 1030 hours 31st December Session 1 Not before 1200 hours 1st January 2021 New Year’s Day Rest Day 2nd January 2021 Session 2 Not before 1200 hours 3rd January 2021 Session 3 Not Before 1000 hours 3rd January 2021 Spit Roast 1800 hours 4th January 2021 Session 4 Not before 1200 hours 5th January 2021 Session 5 Not before 1000 hours 5th January 2021 Presentation Prizes ASAP After final Session 5.2 First warning signal not before the time indicated. 5.3 There will be no warning signal after 1400 hours on the 5th January 2021. 5.4 12 races are scheduled for Championships. 5.5 No more than 3 races will be conducted per racing session. 6. MEASUREMENTS 6.1 The equipment limitations as specified in the class rules shall apply. 6.2. A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions. On the water, a boat can be instructed by a race committee, equipment inspector or measurer to proceed immediately to a designated area for inspection 7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available at registration. 8. VENUE The venue is the Hervey Bay sailing club at 427 Charlton Esplanade A map showing the location is available on the Hervey Bay Sailing Club website. (http://)www.herveybaysailingclub.org.au Racing Area map will be available with the sailing instructions. 9. THE COURSES 9.1 The course will be outlined in the sailing instructions. 10. SCORING 10.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A RRS 2017-2020 shall apply. 10.2 5 Sessions are scheduled of which 1 race must be completed to form the regatta. 10.3 When 5 or more races have been completed a boats final score will be the total of its race scores excluding its worst score (1 drop).When 9 races have been completed a boats final score will be the total of its race score excluding its worst 2 races (2 drops) 11. RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS In participating in this regatta, a competitor automatically grants to the organising authority and the sponsors of the event, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition for the said event in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said event without compensation. 12. PRIZES Prizes will be given as follows: 1) Trophies will be awarded to the helmsman and crew placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in all classes. 2) A minimum of five entrants is required to constitute a class. Classes with less than five entrants may be grouped and results will be determined on current AS yardstick. 3) Other prizes may be awarded by the Organising Authority.
13. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 13.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. 13.2 The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 14. INSURANCE 14.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $5 M or the equivalent. 14.2 All owners/competitors who agree to the terms and conditions on the Entry Form are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold such cover. 15. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES Wednesday 30th December - Meet and Greet Welcome Night – 1800 hours Thursday 31st December - New Year’s Eve Fireworks c/ Fraser Coast Regional Council - tba Sunday 3rd December – Spit Roast with Trivia Quiz - 1800 hours Tuesday 5th January - Presentation Function - Pizza - ASAP after Sailing Competitors Registration will include meals at the 3 social functions. Non competitors will be able to purchase meal tickets for the social functions at Registration. 18. APPAREL Event Apparel will be included in the entry fee and can be purchased during the Regatta for non- competitors. 19. Venue The Hervey Bay Sailing Club is situated on a beautiful 7 km white sandy beach, facing north, in the delightful city of Hervey Bay, just 3 hours north of Brisbane. Its waters are protected to the east by the heritage listed Fraser Island, making it an excellent sailing venue. Over the years Nacra catamarans have held many titles at this venue including the 1ST Nacra 5.8 world titles in 1991. Hervey Bay offers a wide variety of social activities for the whole family and support crew including: Fraser Island, 12Km Charlton Esplanade, the Fraser Coast Discovery Sphere, Wetslide Water Park. Your respect and assistance will be appreciated. There will be EFT facilities for all financial transactions. The Fraser Coast Regional Council car park adjacent to the HBSC Clubhouse will be enclosed by a fence for the duration of the regatta. Your co-operation and patience will be appreciated to optimize the use of this space. Cars are not to stay parked in the regatta compound. Please review the Boat Park Management Plan which will be available when you arrive at the HBSC site.
