The Targa Concept
• Targa means plate or plaque in Italian

• Targa Newfoundland got its name from
Targa Florio, a long-distance race around
Sicily in the 1900s

The Targa Concept
• A modern Targa event is a
long-distance, multi-day rally
on paved roads

• Three recognized Targa
rallies in the world: Australia
(Tasmania), New Zealand and
Newfoundland

The Targa choice…
Two competitions…:
• Grand Touring competition: Traditional
distance/speed/time rally for any street-legal car

• Targa competition: Flat-out blast over closed roads for
prepared cars where speed and durability count

Or two great adventures…:

• Fast Tour: A non-competitive drive over spectacular Targa
route where you can “drive it like it was meant to be driven!”

• Quick Tour: Same as Fast Tour, but a minimum of one day
or three days of experience; don’t have to sign up for the
entire event!
