WELCOME TO MILTON KEYNES
The MK Marathon Weekend is the biggest mass participation running race and community event
in the Home Counties, which takes place during the early May Bank Holiday weekend. It reflects all
the great things about Milton Keynes, including our beautiful scenery and fantastic stadium.
Since its inception in 2010, the MK Marathon quickly became a top 10 UK Marathon and has
received the British Association of Road Races (BARR) GOLD AWARD for the last six years running,
as well as earning the prestigious 'most improved UK race of 2019' award.
The routes offer a mix of old and new, and include the original Milton Keynes Village, and the
Bradwell Abbey, which dates back to the 14th Century. It also passes the Roman ruins at Bancroft,
the Bradwell Windmill, which was built in c1810 and St Andrews, a 13th Century church in Manor
Park.
The routes are very scenic and include beautiful lakes, picturesque parks and even the meandering
grand union canal. And of course, as you would expect, the marathon route takes in the famous
Concrete Cows of Milton Keynes!
