Dear Colleagues,

It’s my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd Congress of the Wound Healing Society of
Singapore. The WHSS is a network formed by our local doctors, nurses and allied health professionals,
in partnership with Asian countries. This is a platform to share ideas on the epidemiology, prevention
and management of all wound types. We are proud to be endorsed by the Asian Wound Care
Association.

This congress has been organised with our association’s goals in mind – to promote the community’s
understanding of wounds and their management. With an ageing population comes a myriad of
challenges, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and pressure injuries secondary to immobility.
Rapid advances in biomedical technology and the advent of new wound care products have
expanded patient treatment options, however impact on healthcare costs. To continue to
advance, we need to generate data, improve the quality of evidence and create strategies to
implement knowledge. This collective Asian effort will allow us to create a members’ network and
freely share best practice resources.

The scientific committee has put together a programme covering topics including pressure injuries,
acute and chronic wounds, wound therapies, research and innovation. With the theme “Toward
Holistic Wound Care”, we hope to bring together like-minded healthcare individuals who are
passionate about prevention, value-added care and ultimately, improving the patients’ experience.

I thank all the world-renowned experts for sharing in this scientific platform. They hail from Asia,
America, Europe and Australasia. I hope that the wide array of topics will invigorate your interest in
wound healing and that lasting friendships may develop. Singapore is a garden city where foodies,
culture seekers, and urban explorers meet. New experiences are created every day. We welcome
our participants and their families to enjoy the sights and sounds of Singapore life.
