Kootenay Freestyle Classic (KFC), Panorama Mountain Resort February 21st – 23rd 2020 On behalf of Freestyle Panorama, Panorama Mountain Resort and the organizing committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to attend the Kootenay Freestyle Classic to be held at Panorama Mountain Resort from February 22nd – 23rd. Training day is February 21st. This competition is open to all athletes between the ages of 6 – 18. We look forward to welcoming you and your families to Panorama Mountain Resort. Competition and Registration Office: Earl Grey Room The office will be open for registration and payment Friday and Saturday 7.30am to 12 noon. Rules 1. This competition is sanctioned by the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association (CFSA). 2. This competition is being organized by Freestyle Panorama & Panorama Mountain Resort. 3. The competition will be held under FIS rules and regulations for Freestyle Skiing. 4. All competitors must possess a CFSA Competitor license valid in British Columbia. Athletes require a CanFree 2 license at minimum. Renew your CFSA membership online. 5. Athletes must pre-register for the event online prior to Sunday, February 16th. There will be a $10 late fee for athletes who do not register by this date. 6. Athlete bibs must be worn during all official training and competition. No exceptions. Bibs must be returned to the race office at the conclusion of the competition.
Schedule FRIDAY– March 15th KFC Moguls Training 10am – 1pm KFC Slopestyle Training All Day Slopestyle courses will be open to the public all day. SATURDAY – March 16th KFC Slopestyle Training All Day KFC Moguls Competition 9am Slopestyle courses will be open to the public all day. SUNDAY– March 17th KFC Slopestyle Competition 9am Finalized event schedule to be determined at the first team leader’s meeting. Day Time Activity 10am – 1pm Moguls training Friday March 15 9am – 4pm Slopestyle training* 9am – 4pm Moguls Competition Saturday March 16 9am – 4pm Slopestyle training* Sunday March 17 9am – 4pm Slopestyle Competition *Slopestyle course will be open to the public.
Athlete Registration Register online: https://freestylebc.ski/event/ Entrants must complete the on- line entry form no later than 11:59pm February 16th. Late entries will be subject to a $10 late registration fee. Registration will be capped at 120 athletes for Moguls and 100 athletes for Slopestyle. Competitors will be registered on a first come, first served basis. Entry Fees • One event: $60 • Two events: $90 Mandatory bib deposit: $20 cash (refund upon return) Refund Policy: If the entire competition is cancelled, $30CDN shall be refunded to each athlete registered for that event. An athlete shall receive a maximum refund of $30CDN per competition even if he/she is registered in more than one event that is cancelled. Injury Refund Policy: A registered athlete who withdraws from an event before the generation of the start list will receive a refund of 50% of their entry fee. Athletes that appear on the official start list for an event will not be given a refund. No refunds will be given without a written request received no later than 7 days after the completion of the last event day.
Liability and Accident Insurance • All competitors 19 years of age or older will be required to sign a waiver at the time of registration. All competitors under the age of 19 must have a team leader, parent or guardian authorized to sign a waiver. • All athletes, officials and other team members who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. • Volunteers, coaches and officials must be members of the CFSA. Register online. Lift Tickets Registered competitors are eligible to purchase discounted lift tickets, which are for sale in the competition office daily. Multiple passes may be purchased. Passes for athletes are priced at 25% off the regular day rate. Registered volunteers will be issued a complimentary lift ticket each day. Coaches will be issued a complementary lift pass on a 1:10 ratio. Any additional lift passes may be purchased with 25% off the regular day rate.
Pizza Party Banquet Date: Saturday, February 22nd. Cost: $10 Tickets for the Pizza Party can be purchased at the competition office until noon on Saturday 22nd. Panorama Mountain Resort will be catering for the Pizza Party. Silent Auction: Freestyle Panorama will be hosting a silent auction during the Banquet. Volunteers As always, the success of this event depends on volunteers. If you are able to help out at this competition, please email our Volunteer Coordinator Deb Dakin – info@freestylepanorama.com. Volunteers should sign in daily at the Comp office by 7:30am on training and competition days. Courtesy lift tickets and lunches will be provided to volunteers. Thank you for your help! Accommodation Accommodation of all types can be booked directly with Panorama Mountain Resort https://www.panoramaresort.com/planning/lodging-at-panorama/ Travel Directions to Panorama Panorama is situated in BC’s Purcell Mountains, with alpine views to the Rocky Mountains. The nearest major city is Calgary, AB, just a 3½-hour drive away. Access from Calgary is west, via Highway 1 through the Banff and Kootenay National Parks, followed by a turn south on Highway 93 through to Radium and onwards to Invermere, BC. From Invermere, a gentle 20-minute drive rises into the Purcell Mountains and winds towards Panorama Mountain Resort. Air Access The nearest airports are: • Calgary International Airport (YYC) is the most common access point to Panorama. It's 311 km from Panorama through the world-famous Banff and Kootenay National Parks. During the winter season we offer airport transfers from YYC. • Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC) is just 161 km from Panorama. • Spokane International Airport (GEG) is 464 km from Panorama. • Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, MT is 349 km from Panorama.
