Three-summer course (2019-2021) This year marks the 100 anniversary of Dr. Montessori’s first international teacher training in Barcelona, Spain, where she introduced for the first time the materials and methods for teaching elementary school children. MIRTC (Montessori Palau International Research and Training Center) wants to commemorate her rich legacy by reintroducing the AMI International Elementary Teacher Training (6-12), a unique opportunity to become highly skilled, highly qualified Montessori guides. The AMI International Elementary Teacher Training course is a rigorous program that both prepares and challenges teachers in the arduous task of guiding children aged 6 to 12 to develop the fullness of their individual human potential. Teachers learn to better respond to the child’s inner guide at this stage of development, that is, through Cosmic Education, the keystone of the Montessori elementary classroom and the path through which children develop a global vision of humanity, the universe and their own lives within it. In this context, the acquisition of basic skills and the development of social, cultural and moral values becomes an essential part of the children’s growth, as they progress from childhood to maturity and fully adapt to their global environment. The training course helps students to discover for themselves the fundamental aspects underlying the Montessori approach. They gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Montessori principles and applications by fully immersing in the Montessori pedagogy and its educational practices. They become skilled at creating a safe and stimulating prepared environment in which the child can fully develop, the fundamentals of the Montessori pedagogy, and they establish stronger habits of observation, reflection and experimentation that will serve them well throughout their career. The course is offered over a three-summer period (2019-2021) and leads to the AMI Montessori Diploma for 6-12 years of age, which has been internationally recognized for its high quality standards and authenticity. The training course director, worldwide renowned Dr. Kay M Baker, our staff, the facilities, the city of Girona, its surroundings and its special climate, ensure that this training will benefit you and, more importantly, the children of the world. We welcome you and ask you to join us!
