2020-2021 EMERGENCY PROTOCOL Dear Parents / Guardians, In response to the possibility of another wave of COVID-19 that would require the closure of Morin Heights Elementary School, this Emergency Protocol is our contingency plan which outlines all the key actions to be implemented and elements to be considered to ensure continuity of learning for all students. This plan is intended to provide all stakeholders with a list of elements that we will considered in order to be able to react quickly to change that may result from a new state of emergency. It allows for the planning of additional actions beyond the measures already implemented in accordance with guidelines from the public health authorities. Morin Heights Elementary will be using Google Classroom and Mozaik Portail Parents as the main communication platforms for all parents to connect with their child’s teachers. All communications coming from the school administration will be sent through our school website, Facebook and Mozaik Portail Parents (email). In the event of a school closure, the administration will remain available to you through phone or email: Ms. Bond, principal: vbond@swlauriersb.qc.ca 450-226-2017 x6210 In the event of a second confinement, Morin Heights Elementary will quickly shift to mandatory distance learning. The school will provide each parent/guardian with a schedule identifying the detailed information for all online classes. In the event of a shutdown, technological support will be distributed in a timely manner. Page I 2
DISTANCE LEARNING PLAN In the event of a school closure, online class attendance will be mandatory for all students and assigned work must be completed and submitted on time as it will be evaluated for the term report card. PreK & K will be online from 9:45-10:15 and from 11:45-12:15 Grades 1-6 will be online respecting their regular schedule for subjects following the timetable below. EVALUATION Alternate methods for the evaluation of learning will be used. Teachers will collaborate (sharing resources and strategies) to best evaluate the students. Formative assessment of student learning via teacher observations. Summative assessments through the electronic submission of student work, teacher will render summative assessment. Using various digital platforms for submission of material (pictures or scans of student artwork/math activities, google doc submissions, word doc submissions, etc.). Differentiated tutorials created and available for all teaching students for various platforms being used. Teachers will consider students’ IEPs for evaluation purposes. Evaluation of learning ponderation will be respected. SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS The resource team and attendants, in collaboration with the classroom teachers, will continue to provide the regularly scheduled classroom support to their assigned students. In addition, the resource teachers will communicate their weekly availability to respond to student’s needs (as per the MEES chart above). SUPPORT WITH REGARD TO MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL BEING In order to support student wellness, homeroom teachers will schedule one block per week dedicated to providing students with an opportunity to share their feelings and concerns with their classmates and teachers. This, in turn, will allow teachers to identify students who may need additional professional support. The physical education team will offer opportunities for students to move and use different strategies in order to develop and maintain a healthy balance of mental, social/emotional and physical well-being. SINGLE CLASSROOM ISOLATION SITUATION In the event that the Public Health authorities request that one of our classrooms be isolated, the following will be put in place: Parents will be contacted immediately. Online instruction will begin within 48 hours of the notice of isolation. Pick up of personal belongings will be organized within 24 hours. ONE Zoom link will be used by ALL teachers for the same class. Regular schedule will be followed by the students (which includes PM recess). CASE BY CASE ISOLATION OF STUDENTS In the event that the Public Health authorities request that one of our students be isolated, the following will be put in place: Parents will be contacted immediately. Pick up of personal belongings will be organized within 24 hours. Work will be sent home by the respective teachers. There is no online support for these students who are isolated; however the school will continue to provide work and to support the student at a distance. Page I 5
