Dear Faith Family of Our Lady of Grace,
Praised be Jesus…now and forever!
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love.
V. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.
R. And you shall renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray. O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant us in the same Spirit to be
truly wise and ever to rejoice in His consolaƟon. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The prayer to the Holy Spirit known by many speaks of the reality of who this third person of the Trinity is. The Spirit renews, en-
kindles, instructs, creates, and is joyful. The sinful spirit of the world divides and separates people; the Spirit of Christ unites people
and brings them together. It was the sinful spirit of the world that caused the people of Babel to become confused and sca ered.
The Spirit of Christ, on the other hand, enabled people to understand those who were different from them. What would happen if
we carried the Spirit of Christ into the sinful structures of the world? What if we brought the Spirit of Christ into the dead bones of
our broken rela onships among races and sexes and cultures and regions of the world? Wouldn’t those dead bones rise to life, as
in Ezekiel’s prophecy, if we were able to breathe into them the Spirit of Christ!
Paul wrote to the Romans that “all crea on groans and is in agony.” We long for unity, and so we pray that the Spirit may “unite
the races and na ons on earth and disperse the divisions of word and tongue.” We Chris ans “have been given to drink of the one
Spirit,” whom the sequence names “Father of the poor.” When we have done away with the human divisions represented by the
poor, then, indeed, the Spirit shall have renewed the face of the earth, and we shall be able to say to people, as Jesus did, “Peace
be with you.” Our Holy Father Pope Francis last year on the solemnity wrote, “Holy Spirit, memory of God, revive in us the memory
of the gi received. Free us from the paralysis of selfishness and awaken in us the desire to serve, to do good. Even worse than this
crisis is the tragedy of squandering it by closing in on ourselves. Come, Holy Spirit: you are harmony; make us builders of unity. You
always give yourself; grant us the courage to go out of ourselves, to love and help each other, in order to become one family.”
“All [persons] are called to be part of this catholic unity of the People of God, a unity which is harbinger of the universal peace it
promotes. And there belongs to it, or are related to it in various ways, the Catholic faithful as well as all who believe in Christ,
and indeed the whole of mankind. For all [persons] are called to salva on by the grace of God.” (Va can II, Dogma c Cons tu-
on on the Church, 1964:13)
I ask your charity to con nue prayer for peace in the world especially in the Holy Land. The countries of the world are at each oth-
er’s necks. Peace is the ability to remain calm and focused in the midst of any and every “trouble” we encounter. The trouble that
Chris ans will especially face are the various persecu ons of the world when we live in accord with the Truth. And though there
are many moral truths presented clearly by our faith that the world a acks, there are also other forms of troubles we will encoun-
ter within the world today. Lord of all peace, You have called us out of the world so that Your peace will abide within us, sustaining
us, giving us courage, wisdom and strength. I open my life to You, dear Lord, and pray that the many distracƟons and commoƟons
imposed upon me by the world will begin to cease. May I always hear Your gentle voice and follow You to the place of silent repose
found only in You. Jesus, I trust in You.
Please save the date for our 40 Hours of Solemn EucharisƟc AdoraƟon from June 3rd-June 5th. We will be needing adorers to keep
vigil in front of the Blessed Sacrament every hour as we adore and give thanks for the gi and mystery of the Holy Eucharist in an-
cipa on of the Solemnity of Corpus ChrisƟ on June 6th. We have sign up sheets for hour slots a er Mass today so you can plan
to adore the Blessed Sacrament. Join us also for the Solemn Eucharis c Procession a er the 11am Mass that Sunday around the
whole neighborhood. We will be stopping at different homes with decorated altars. I have also heard that the Byzan ne Catholic
Community from the Proto-Cathedral of St. Mary on Van Nuys Boulevard will be joining us. It will be a great witness of faith in the
Holy Eucharist as we breathe with both” lungs” of the Church- East and West- to use the expression of St. John Paul II. In the up-
coming week I will explain the significance of the 40 Hours and why expressions of Eucharis c devo on is important to the vitality
of a parish. As Pope Pius XII emphasizes, “it is one and the same Lord who is immolated on the altar and honored in the taber-
nacle, and who pours out his blessings from the tabernacle… is the reality of which the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies
in the Temple was the glorious type or figure. Every tabernacle is not only the heart of the church building but also contains the
head and heart of the MysƟcal Body; it is the dwelling of the Bridegroom with His Bride.”

Recemos. Oh Dios, que a la luz del Espíritu Santo instruyó el corazón de los fieles, nos concedió en el mismo Espíritu ser verdadera-
mente sabios y siempre para regocijarse en Su consuelo. Por medio de Cristo nuestro Señor. amén.
La oración al Espíritu Santo conocida por muchos habla de la realidad de quién es esta tercera persona de la Trinidad. El Espíritu renueva,
enviaste, instruye, crea y es gozoso. El espíritu pecaminoso del mundo divide y separa a las personas; el Espíritu de Cristo une a las per-
sonas y las une. Fue el espíritu pecaminoso del mundo lo que hizo que la gente de Babel se confundiera y se dispersase. El Espíritu de
Cristo, por otro lado, permi ó a las personas entender a los que eran diferentes de ellos. ¿Qué pasaría si llevaríamos el Espíritu de Cristo
a las estructuras pecaminosas del mundo? ¿Y si trajimos el Espíritu de Cristo a los huesos muertos de nuestras relaciones rotas entre
razas, sexos y culturas y regiones del mundo? ¿No se elevarían esos huesos muertos a la vida, como en la profecía de Ezequiel, si pudié-
ramos respirarles el Espíritu de Cristo!
Pablo escribió a los romanos que "toda la creación gime y está en agonía". Anhelamos la unidad, por lo que oramos para que el Espíritu
"una a las razas y naciones de la erra y disperse las divisiones de la palabra y la lengua". A los cris anos "se nos ha dado para beber del
único Espíritu", a quien la secuencia nombra "Padre de los pobres". Cuando hayamos acabado con las divisiones humanas representadas
por los pobres, entonces, de hecho, el Espíritu habrá renovado el rostro de la erra, y podremos decirle a la gente, como lo hizo Jesús,
"La paz esté con ustedes"." Nuestro Santo Padre el Papa Francisco escribió el año pasado sobre la solemnidad: "Espíritu Santo, memoria
de Dios, revive en nosotros la memoria del don recibido. Liberarnos de la parálisis del egoísmo y despertar en nosotros el deseo de ser-
vir, de hacer el bien. Incluso peor que esta crisis es la tragedia de despilfarrarla acercándose a nosotros mismos. Ven, Espíritu Santo: eres
armonía; nos hacen constructores de unidad. Siempre te das a mismo; concédenos el valor de salir de nosotros mismos, de amarnos y
ayudarnos unos a otros, para conver rnos en una sola familia".
"Todas [las personas] están llamadas a ser parte de esta unidad católica del pueblo de Dios, una unidad que es presagio de la paz
universal que promueve. Y allí le pertenece, o están relacionados con ella de diversas maneras, los fieles católicos, así como todos los
que creen en Cristo, y de hecho toda la humanidad. Porque todas [las personas] son llamadas a la salvación por la gracia de
Dios." (VaƟcano II, ConsƟtución DogmáƟca sobre la Iglesia, 1964:13)
Pido a vuestra caridad que con núe orando por la paz en el mundo, especialmente en Tierra Santa. Los países del mundo están al cuello
del otro. La paz es la capacidad de mantener la calma y la concentración en medio de todos y cada uno de los "problemas" que encon-
tramos. Los problemas a los que se enfrentarán especialmente los cris anos son las diversas persecuciones del mundo cuando vivimos
de acuerdo con la Verdad. Y aunque hay muchas verdades morales presentadas claramente por nuestra fe de que el mundo ataca, tam-
bién hay otras formas de problemas que encontraremos en el mundo hoy. Señor de toda paz, usted nos ha llamado fuera del mundo
para que Su paz permanezca dentro de nosotros, sosteniéndonos, dándonos valor, sabiduría y fuerza. Os abro la vida, querido Señor, y
ruego que las muchas distracciones y conmociones que me impone el mundo comiencen a cesar. Persíteme siempre escuchar Tu voz sua-
ve y seguirte hasta el lugar de reposo silencioso que sólo se encuentra en Ti. Jesús, en Ti conİo.

la Santa Eucaris a en previsión de la solemnidad del Corpus ChrisƟ el 6 de junio. Hoy tenemos la oportunidad de llenar las hojas con los
