Tawatinaw Valley Freeriders Club Competition March 4 - 6, 2022 Slopestyle & Moguls On behalf of the Tawatinaw Valley Freeriders and our organizing committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to attend our Club Competition which will be held March 4th to 6th, 2022. Please see the enclosed information regarding registration, lift tickets, banquet, as well as a provisional event schedule. Registration is on a first come first serve basis so please sign up soon to ensure your spot. Registration will be capped at 100 athletes and the deadline to register is February 21, 2022. We also recommend that you book accommodations ASAP (see discounted rates at the end of the invitation). Coaches can check in at our registration table in the chalet to complete your registration. Registration: Registration deadline is Monday, February 21, 2022. To register, please use the following link https://snowreg.com/#!/events/club-comp-tawatinaw-ssm-march-4- 6. Athletes will be registered on a first come first serve basis. Please register early to avoid disappointment. Coaches should ensure that all athletes registering for the event can safely ski the venues. Entry Fees: $120.00 per athlete covers both events. Club field size will be limited to 100 athletes. All athletes must register to compete in both moguls and slopestyle events. Payment: Athletes are required to pay online at https://snowreg.com/#!/events/club- comp-tawatinaw-ssm-march-4-6 at the time of registration. Athletes are responsible for THEIR OWN registration. Rules: This event is sanctioned by Freestyle Canada and organized by the Tawatinaw Valley Freeriders Ski Club in partnership with Freestyle Alberta. The competition is comprised of two events - club moguls and club slopestyle. All athletes must have a FC Certified coach present with Aerial Passport readily available to present to the event jury. Qualification is required for all inverted maneuvers. All athletes must have an active Club Athlete Membership. Aerial Qualifications: All athletes must have up to date aerial qualifications for jumps they are performing in all disciplines. The technical delegate will verify a random selection of athletes' qualifications during the team leaders meeting, the day before each event, with the coach of the athlete. Verification of qualification will be accepted from any of the following sources: • signed Aerial Passport held by coach/athlete • completed & signed qualification forms • CFSA qualification databank Age Categories: Athlete’s age for the purpose of categories is determined by their age on January 1, 2022. Medals will be awarded for U10, U12, U14, U16 age categories. Underage athletes will compete in the U10 category. • U10: 8 & 9 years of age as of January 1st, 2022 • U12: 10 & 11 years of age as of January 1st, 2022 • U14: 12 & 13 years of age as of January 1st, 2022 • U16: 14 & 15 years of age as of January 1st, 2022 Athlete FC License / Membership: All athletes must have a valid Freestyle Canada number to compete.club level membership is required. Bibs: New for this year, Freestyle Alberta Bib must be purchased in advance to club competition athletes. Athletes will be able to keep their bibs and will be used for the remainder of the season. Lift Tickets: Lift tickets can be purchased at the hill. Tawatinaw Valley Ski Hill will be offering one free coach lift ticket for every ten athlete tickets purchased. Lift tickets are $20 for students and $25 for adults. It is encouraged that teams contact Tawatinaw Valley Ski Hill at 780-698-2212 to pre book. Banquet: Saturday March 5th The banquet will be held at the Westlock Memorial Hall, located at 106 Street & 99 Avenue, Westlock, Alberta. Banquet ticket prices: $25 per person, children 4 years and under – free. We will be hosting a cash bar with wine, coolers and beer. Doors open at 6:00 with dinner at 6:30 PM. We will be following the REP program as outlined by Alberta Health Services. Proof of vaccination (QR code) or negative PCR test with ID will be required. Awards for Saturday’s events follow dinner. There will also be a silent auction, with payment accepted by cash or cheque only. The Athlete Bio Sheet is included at the end of the invitation. Volunteers: Without volunteers, we cannot run a successful event. We always welcome help from parents of other clubs. Liability and Accident Insurance: All athletes, officials and other members who attend and participate in the event shall do so at their own risk. Competitors are required to have his/her own medical and life insurance and a valid competitor license. The organizing committee, Tawatinaw Valley Freeriders, Tawatinaw Valley Ski Hill, the Alberta Freestyle Skiing Association, and the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association shall not be responsible for accidents, injuries, damaged equipment or third-party claims arising from training or competition during the event.
GENERAL INFORMATION Chalet: The chalet cafeteria offers a daily breakfast and lunch menu (8:30am 4:00pm). Please note: The chalet follows the REP program. Proof of Vaccination or Negative PCR test is required to enter the chalet. Debit/credit can be used for purchases from the ski hill, but there is no ATM on site. Bagged lunches are permitted, however due to limited seating Tawatinaw Valley Ski Hill asks that bags, gear, etc not be left at tables for an extended period of time. Please have cash or cheque available to pay for any other purchases from TVFR (ie. raffle tickets, swag, and silent auction items). Note: Cellular service is limited and wifi is not available at the chalet.
